Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse: User Reviews
If you want quality of the price then you will definately be satisfied. Celebrated a birthday here and we ordered the new york steak and norwegian salmon. Was the best steak ever! Place was super packed too and wait was a little long but other than that it was soooo worth it! The macademian turtle pie was orgasmic.

This place is waaaaay over priced. Although I will say that this was some of the best service I have experienced. I ordered the French onion soup and could not finish it, and there was no cheese baked onto the bowl. I ordered the coctail shrimp and they were the same consistency as a piece of rubber tire. The porter house steak was average at best. In all honesty, Wildfire or Weber Grill are way better if you are going to drop some cash. I will probably never go to any Gibson's anywhere just because of the low quality shrimp and soup.

The service was impeccable, the steak (bone-in ribeye, rare), double baked potato, and wine were not just great, they were truly outstanding. I did have to wait ~15 minutes past my reservation time for seating, but this was a Friday night and is not suprising. Drinks at the bar are overpriced even for the Gold Coast, but everything else was extraordinary and very memorable.

This restaurant is superb! Several of us ladies had a mom's weekend getaway in Chicago. We were staying at the Rosemont DoubleTree Hotel where one of the Gibson's restaurant is located. The steaks are phenomenal! The crab/avacado appetizer is delicious! The wine list is outstanding! The homeade shortbread strawberry shortcake is completely enjoyable as well! But the best part of our dining experience at Gibson's was the wait staff. We had a wonderful time and we recommend this Steakhouse and the waiter Phil to anyone who dines in the Chicago area!
Report This ReviewReally disappointed. Should have gone to Morton's just down the street. With the amount of money we spent I expected more. The steak alright, not a lot of flavor. The bar area was way too noisy & the language was getting pretty nasty. I guess it's true what they say 'money can't buy class'.
Report This ReviewMy husband and I met our friends at Gibsons for dinner on a Saturday. We have visited downtown numerous times but tried out Rosemont because it was a center point for us to meet. The food was fabulous, the service was outstanding...felt like I was on Rush Street! The perfect ending to the night was my HUGE martni and listening to the live music in the bar after dinner.
Report This ReviewWe had reservations on New Years Eve.We were 15 minutes late but they still seated us quickly.Service is excellent, drinks are great.I was very dissapointed in the taste of the steak. The quality of the meat is top notch but rather plain tasting.Ruth's Chris is so much more tastier. It would also be nice to order a crab leg that does not cost $100.Overall great service but a little overated.
Report This ReviewThis restaurant is just OK, and is not worth the money. I ordered a filet, and it was a little overcooked. The prices were just too expensive for the average quality food and service.
Report This ReviewThe bartenders are great, love the piano player!
In the restaurant, though, speed rules over service. Since when is the question, "Isn't that steak outstanding my precious?" and not, "How is that steak sir?"
Prices are on the high side, even for a steakhouse. Don't get the peppercorn coating - and definitely not on the bone-in ribeye -- it makes it harder to trim the outrageous ring of fat off the meat. Do get the crab cake (one IS enough!) and try the goat cheese and tomato appetizer. The Estancia Cabernet was a steal with a good-sized glass going for $6.50.
Another hint: If you're going to a show at the Rosemont Theater next door, don't tell the valet, they'll sock you $16.
This would have been a 3 star review if the waitress had not managed to make us all squirm with her constant "my precious" and "my darlings". Shades of Hannibal Lechter!
