La Strada Ristorante
- 2380 Lakewood Blvd
- Hoffman Estates, IL 60010
- 847-765-1700
- Price range: $$$ ($16-$25)
The landmark La Strada opened its first suburban outpost in the Fountain Crossings Shopping Center in Barrington in fall 2006. Just as the original, the focus is on regional Italian cuisine, seafood and prime Midwest steaks. The elegant dining room is shrouded in neutral tones, from the maple-colored wood floors to ivory drum lamps to beige window coverings. Watch pasta being made fresh on-site while the kitchen prepares your meal, and there's also a retail counter for take-home sauces, meats and fish and ice cream. For those with a sweet tooth, there's a large menu of desserts (with everything from classic cannoli to the Chocolate Eruption cake with turtle cream cheese), after-dinner cordials and sweet martinis. On Sundays, a brunch buffet features unlimited mimosas.
