The walls may be dingy, but the "cheers" feeling is all this bar offers. Regulars walk in and every one shouts their names and after two or three visits you become a regular. The bar tenders with one exception ar warm and friendly and always willing to give you the benifit of the doubt. There seems to be a home away from home feeling in the bar that draws a large and very diverse group. I would go to the O over any yuppie bar any time.

If you don't like the pretentious scene at most of the bars
in the North Side then you'll love the O. Having always
favored dive bars over gentrified overpriced hip spots
I can definitely appreciate the genuine people that go here
and work here for good conversation, sports, music, pool and darts.
The music and interior itself reminds me of a bar one would find
in Wisconsin giving it a very comfortable, at home feel!

Not to bad, but not good. You've got other options. Late night bouncers are a bit over the top.

The Oasis is a neighborhood tavern, a student bar, and a late hour place. During Bears games a lot of people get loud, even the bartender. But when some jerk keeps bellowing for no reason I'm glad if the staff asks him to cool it. I'm surprised how even-tempered they are when they have to deal with so many folks who have already been drinking elsewhere. It's not a cowboy bar; it's a regular bar. People go there to have a good time with their friends and neighbors.

Having lived around, above, and even (at times) inside the "O" I would be remiss if not talking briefly about this glorious hideout in Roger's Park. When rating the Oasis, one must carefully consider its very nature; a dark, worn, liquor-peddling hole off the beaten path catering to blue-collar workers who inhabit the Roger's Park area.
This said, it is no surprise to hear the whining diatribes of so many apparently Loyola-attending yuppies regarding their inability to have "fun" or carry on at a "reasonable" volume. If I may be presumptuous, these are the very load-mouthed fratsters to whom I've snuck gut punches in irritation at their childish antics.
