"What we’re hoping to do is create a place that’s Wicker Park," says owner Nick Novich, who’s also behind neighborhood joints Nick’s Beer Garden, Nick’s Uptown and Nick’s on Wilson.

While The Flat Iron should prove a laid-back hang for locals earlier in the evening, it will also be a stomping ground for night owls filing out of nearby nightspots and looking to carry on till sun-up. But with all of the changes in the neighborhood, can a back-to-basics spot like this still hit the mark?
