Have you ever wanted a neighborhood bar you could call your own? Literally? Well, the husband-and-wife owners of this Logan Square corner tavern had that dream and made it a reality. Located on a strip of Armitage Avenue that doesn't see too much nightlife action, this out-of-the way hang makes you feel at home with a cozy, '30s and '40s vibe. The nostalgic touches--tin ceilings, old-fashioned wooden bar, photo booth tucked in the corner, black and white photographs, no TVs, and house-controlled jazz, swing and blues tunes--are a nod to Weegee, the nickname of American B&W crime scene photog, Arthur Fellig. (A fave artist of the owner, who's an Art Institute grad.) Settle in at the bar for conversation and classic cocktails such as the gibson, Manhattan, or sloe gin fizz. Or choose from a selection of wines by the glass, craft beers on tap, or microbrew and Belgian import bottles.
