Thursday's are a great time at the Franklin Tap. A group of co-workers and I went here last night and enjoyed the $2 selected beer pints and half-price appetizers. The super close proximity to Union Station is also a huge plus.
Report This ReviewMy friends and I came to town for the weekend and were looking for a place to drink near the train station on a sat. evening. Franklin Tap was about to close early for the night but Natalie invited us in anyway and went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We had no idea when the train was coming so Nigel spent a half an hour locating the train schedule for us and telling us exactly where and when to go. It was really way more than necessary from both employees and just what we needed after walking a million miles that day. Thanks so much for your hospitality, we will, without a doubt, stop in the next time we're in Chicago.
Report This ReviewWell, I gave the Franklin Tap a last chance to redeem it self but that did not happen (you can read the previous Review). Three of us went there for lunch we had a rude inattentive waitress. Our Drinks arrived and the waitress left.... she didn't take our order we waited 5 more minutes for the waitress to return to us to take an order mean while the restaurant isn't all that busy and neither was our waitress. The food was mediocre lunch just took to long. We don't have time to wait around like this for lunch. I hate to say but that was my last meal or happy hour at the franklin tap.
Report This ReviewYeah I think I have tried every item on this menu. I absolutely love the food here. Get into my belly!
Report This ReviewI went to this place with coworkers after work it was a good time. I think we had 3 dollar beers which was a good deal. We were able to get a table when we walked in which was nice. I went there a couple of months later for lunch and i was not impressed by the food. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was about 9 dollars and it was not worth my money. I would suggest this place for drinks but not the food.
Report This ReviewI had lunch at this place on Thursday and they have great BBQ. I had the pulled pork it was moist and tender. My friend he went for the ribs the were fall off the bone. We both had a great lunch. We just had soda to drink but it was tempting to have a 2.00 draft the special of the day. I will return to this place for the down home taste of good BBQ.
Report This ReviewI never complain about restaurants and this is the first online review I have ever done in my life, but the Franklin Tap deserves every bit of negative publicity they get. Three of us went to lunch there yesterday, looking for a place to catch a couple innings of the Cubs game. We had to convince them to turn one of the 10 tvs to the Cubs rather than golf or the Sox, even though nobody else in the restaurant seemed to be watching tv at all. I ordered a jalapeno burger. They gave me a crummy burger with raw sliced jalapenos on top covered in some sort of orangish fake cheese. I asked for ranch to dip it in because I needed to drown out the horrible taste and they charged me $1 for a cup of ranch. That means that my awful burger now cost me $12. For reference, Cheesecake Factory has a Kobe beef burger for $13. My buddy ordered a pulled pork sandwich that was nothing more than "shredded" burnt crummy pork...dry as a bone. When he complained and asked for BBQ sauce, they charged him $1. All in all our meal for 3 came to $50 which means with tip it was $20 a piece for one of the worst meals I have ever gotten in Chicago.
Report This ReviewI've spent many hours in this place, all over the lunch hour. The atmosphere is fantastic, and I've never had a bad meal there. Salads are great, and the soups are fantastic. (By the way, the corn chowder should be a permanent fixture on the menu). The service in this place is incredible, and all servers are friendly. The service, location, food and drinks all get 5 stars - I will continue to be a regular at the Franklin Tap.
Report This ReviewEvery-time I stop at the Franklin Tap the food is superb. My favorites is the blue cheese burger, it is always delicious and cooked to my liking. They recently put up a new wall of beer taps, which is the most fascinating piece of art. I never seen something like it in any loop bar and grill. The waitstaff is on top of it and attentive. I will continue to frequent the Franklin tap for great eats, cool people, and awesome wall of tappers.
Report This ReviewA group of 10 tried on this place on Monday night after work. Drink specials were 1/2 off mixed drinks. My friend has a home breathalyzer test that we use all the time. After 10 rum and cokes and a shot of socolime in 3 hours, I blew a .09. Similar experiences all around the table. If this is what you want, you might as well have a couple of drinks next door at the McDonald's. Don't plan on going back.
