Worst Service Ever

Was there on saturday for a bday party. $35 9-1am open bar. I have never had to wait so long for drinks. The bartenders literally were the laziest bartenders I have ever encountered - so much that it inspired me to write my first review. They wouldn't allow you to order more than one drink, which I can understand, but when you are trying to get drinks for your friend, they had to be present at the bar with their wristband, thus crowding the bar unnecessarily. After my first few attempts to get drinks, and 10 minutes later finally getting service, we started leaving $2-3 tip for each drink, just in hopes they would service everyone better. At one point, the manager went behind the bar and told them to step up their game as EVERYONE was complaining- even people who didn't have the drink package. The final straw was after I was waiting for again, 10 minutes for a watered down vodka-soda, the bartender took care of the person next to me. When that was finished, she looked up at me, we made eye contact, and I smiled to order my drink. She proceeded to pull out her cell phone and walk away texting something. I gave up and left. Didn't even drink $35 worth, and ended up spending another $15 in tips. Funny thing is, the bartenders were doing so many shots of their own, they drank enough for everyone. I will never go back although the outdoor patio is really nice in the warmer weather. Don't go- it's NOT worth it!!!

Terrible Experience

For the past 5 weeks, we've spent our entire day watching football at Cedar hotel. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the wait staff, and stumbled upon their 1/2 off everything special (which of course kept us coming back). This week we arrived right around noon and sat outside because of the goregous weather. When we first sat down our waitress informed us that it was half off everything as usual. Our friends came to meet us and it turned into a group of 13 people. We spent our entire day ordering food, drinks, and shots knowing that it was half off. When it came time to get the bill (5 hours later) the manager told us we could not have 1/2 off. He said that it was a "winter promotion" and because it was warm today, it would not be honored. We explained how we didn't just assume it was 1/2 off and that we were in fact informed by our server when we arrived. He continued to tell us that he would not give us 1/2 off but would buy us a round. After much back and forth he finally gave us 1/2 off of our bill. When he walked by our table he leaned over and said, "stomp your feet and you shall get, but your waitress is still getting fired". We could not believe how one of the owners of Cedar Hotel (from the Manor side of the business) was treating us. So, much for Cedar hotel being our regular bar. This guy obviously doesn't know how to run a successful business and this bar will suffer.

1.) went in there on a weekday night, dead..ok we are in a recession, things arent like they used to be 2.) $10 for a vodka soda in a PLASTIC cup, not a big take home one, not a special...regular ol' solo 12 oz -- so, either its greed or they ordered some pretentious glass thats taking months to come in-come on guys, now i dont want to go in there again.. i know your food is good (its 50/50, love them) but, when you have good old cozy dublin's right there...with suitable prices and excellent bar food (and glassware) then you have an issue.

Great Location for such a Lame Spot

Used to go to Melvin B's years ago when I lived in this area. Melvin's had a great buzz. Just a simple place to meet folks, fun. This new place, with such a great location, has overpriced. bad drinks and very lame bar food. Service was great, though, but won't be back. Such a shame to have such a great piece of real estate in a great location of the great city of Chicago but not to follow through with anything special. I can sit outside elsewhere with way better food and drinks. Wouldn't recommend it.

Tre triangle needed something like this place!
Young crowd, good drinks good music. And always packed, but not that you have to wait in line. Perfect timing to check who's there. :)
Very convenient to start the night. I highly recommend!

Definitely Not Worth the Money

Was very disappointed last night with The Cedar Hotel. Yes, it was nice to sit outside, but their specialty drinks were $14 dollars (beware as they don't list the price on the menu) and were definitely not worth it for vodka lemonades. We also noticed that they sold their nachos with chicken for $16 dollars. For those prices, you are much better off going to a place with better food and ambiance.
