Sweetwater
225 N. Michigan Ave. - Chicago312-698-7111
We went expecting something from the north side, but found tourista: high prices, okay food, hard surfaces, loud sports, high turn over, and not a very Chicago feel. Group of four looking for burgers and beer on a weekend afternoon spend 100 plus. A little high for a corporate, just out of design school, focus group feel.
Report This ReviewI went here for lunch today. The food was very good and the place is sleek. This corner of the Loop needed something like this. However, the prices were pretty high in my opinion - sandwiches and burgers around 11 or 12 bucks. It was good but the prices make it more of a special occasion lunch place and not a weekly thing.
Report This ReviewMy hubby had the burger I had the veggie sandwich, both were mediocre. The waiter was very nice and attentive, but we probably won't be back. There are so many great restaurants around this just doesn't cut it for me.
Report This ReviewI succumbed to a major grilled cheese craving after a quick menu scan, figuring it'd be hard to screw up. Unfortunately, they managed, and I can't recommend the sandwich. It was surprisingly dry -- thick slices of bread with minimal cheese (two skimpy slices, barely melted). I ate it, but I credit that to my ravenous hunger, not a spectacular sandwich. When I'm starving, my standards are lower!
All was forgiven, though, when our cookie skillet arrived. Divine! They don't even pretend to cook the cookie -- it's actually called a cookie dough skillet -- and the salty-sweet mush of the dough pairs nicely with goopy, melty vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
Report This ReviewAfter hearing so many good things about Sweetwater I was terribly disappointed with my visit there. The staff was rude, the food took forever and they got all of our drinks wrong. I'm never going back and I'll be sure to tell all of my friends about my experience too.
Report This ReviewWe have nothing but great experiences at The Boundary in Wicker Park, but unfortunately, our first experience here was great service wise, but the food not as great. The wings were awesome, but our burger came out in literally 2 minutes and was very dry (the meat coupled with the bun were both dry) as if it was sitting around waiting for us to order it.
Of course, we will be back because it is still new and believe in chances, but will be skeptical in ordering the burger.
Awesome atomosphere, huge booths and great people working there!
I have been heavily anticipating the opening of Sweetwater in the Illinois Center as it would be great to have a new bar & grill for a lunchtime meal or after-work drink. I went here with two co-workers for lunch and we definitely enjoyed our meal and are looking forward to heading back to Sweetwater in the near future to have one of their many beer selections. For lunch I had the People's Choice sandwich which allowed you to totally customize your meal. I ended up getting the Grilled Buffalo Chicken and it was very good. Prices were a tad high, but you will get that being on Michigan Avenue. I am definitely looking forward to heading back to Sweetwater again.
Report This ReviewAwesome sports bar located on Michigan Ave. The atmosphere is classy and laid-back. Food is good and an ideal place for watching games or for a night out. The owners are great guys and worth knowing.
