Small Bar

This is more or less my favorite place to put back a few or a lot of beers. The tap list is always rad, and their bottle list is bangin' as well. The bartenders are always up on whats what too so if you can't make up your mind just trust your bartender, its what I do.
Its more or less the Map Room light. Not as many beers or space but also not as many yuppies or freaking hipster scumbags too.
I've only had a couple of things off the menu but I can tell you the vegi pizza is rockin'. Cheese curds are dank too, but when aren't they?
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat juke box but you'll probably not even need to jam it since the staff keeps a solid stream of rockin' tunes on the stereo anyhow. The only place I've every heard FEAR played in entirety in a bar.
To top it off it still has a real steel tip dart board to boot.
Go, if you don't like it, you suck.
Report This ReviewSmall Bar is a quintessential neighborhood pub with some real surprises. The beer selection is much wider than your typical corner joint, but I wouldn't consider the staff or any of the patrons to be beer snobs. It's a really fun atmosphere and the food is probably the bigest surpriae of them all. Take it from me: Get the Calamari! To die for. The beer garden is a real plus on warmer days. Highly recomended.
Report This ReviewI take it "a few imports in the fridge" in the write-up is a joke becauese they have ~100 beers, many being imports (I like the red rice Japanese beer - name escapes me). This intimate place is nothing like the rowdy place of the same name on Division. This one
accomodates maybe 40 people (it is small) but it does serve the same good bar food (the chopped salad is a fav). When its nice out the back paver courtyard is a great place to hang - a giant tree from the parkway umbrellas above and the owners actually spend time and money on nice container landscaping as well as vines that follow strung lines overhead from which small lantern lines also hang. Inside the Romanesque wood arch behind the bar seems almost too old for this neighborhood but it helps make this a warm inviting place to throw down some cold pints on a winter night. Lucky to be a block away...
OK.. So I've been going to this bar since it opened. I also went to the bar before it was Small Bar. It went from smelling like a stale cigarette to a French Fry that doesn't stop frying!! I love the place good eats and drinks!! I just don't like going home smelling like I just got out of a deep fryer. Oh, and I smoke too!
Report This Reviewi was just back and the air seemed fine to me, but it is a bar and i was smoking. also with new castle on draft not much else really matters. except maybe the fried cheese. this place is a classic winner.
Report This ReviewNice selection of beers, great service. Good establishemet if you like smelling like you were deep fried. Poor grease exhaust, poor ventilation.
Report This ReviewGood selection of beer, service is excellent. Good establishement if you like smelling like you were just deep fried when you leave. Bad grease exhaust, poor ventilation. Recommend going before they start serving food or wait at least 2 hours after they are done serving food @ 11pm!
