Great food, great beer and great service- it is possible

Walking into the Small Bar right away it feels like they got the Chicago bar just right. Small Bar manages to have a very upbeat and energetic atmosphere while retaining the comfort and friendliness that makes a great Chicago bar. For beer lovers, right off the bat you know you are in the right place by the humongous list of beers on tap and bottle. I certainly love beer but don't know every brew that is around. The bartender was super helpful when I told him what kind of beers I generally drink and recommended one of their seasonal specialties on tap which was perfect. The food was really great and they had quite a menu including custom pizzas, salads and perhaps the best sweet potato fries I've had in a while. The fact that the Small Bar's menu goes far beyond and above the normal bar fare is a super plus. The only thing I liked possibly more than the beer or food was the service which was super friendly and welcoming unlike some locales in Wicker Park where you can see the noses turn up if they deem you not hip enough at the door.  Great food, great beer and great service.

Love everything about this place but the prices. I do get a chuckle when I walk by and the "special deal" of the night is a $6 beer. Whoop-de-doo. But I come here anyway because its close, the music is good and the food is tasty.

Small Bar has become our group's regular bar. Aside from the great jukebox (from Johnny Cash to the Pixies to Outkast) and phenomenal beer selection, they have some of the best service in Chicago. We love Erica, our regular waitress. She consistently recommends new, great stuff for us to try and remembers our likes and dislikes each time we're there. Hooray Small Bar!

i live in the neighborhood and smallbar is a great addition! great music, and a relaxed atomosphere! the service was a bit too relaxed but i'm sure they'll work it out with time. will be back soon!
