I really like Schoolyard. I find that it is a mid to upper twenties crowd which is much better than Clark St! The atmosphere seems pretty laid back.
Report This ReviewI love this place for its $5 menu on Wednesday nights. I agree with the reviewer who said that this is a place for recent college grads. It prides itself as being an Illinois and Marquette Bar, and it lives up to that with it big ten clientele. However, it's not a bad place to relax with friends on a weekday night for good food or catch a game. I would avoid it on the weekends, however.
Report This ReviewLakeview has about 50 other places that are interchangeable with Schoolyard. This one is clean and full of clean boring big ten grad future Naperville residents. This place is a typical neighborhood bar that is representative of the thousands of recent big ten grads who live in the area.
I don't recall anything notable(positive or negative) at all about Schoolyard other than the sidewalk seating area.
Report This ReviewAll I can say is this place was AWESOME!
Although the service was slow at first they got it together and were great.
The outdoor seating area although small, is comfortable and you get to interact with the other patrons. I must suggest the "Fish bowl" Vodka punch drink if you are going with a group of friends, or want a challenge for yourself. It was tasty, and a great conversation piece, by the time me and my group ordered our second one :) everyone had a fish bowl on their table. Over all I was very pleased with my experience and will be going back very soon. Give it a try.... you won't be disappointed!
Nice, well kept bar. Food is great, love the skillet cookie. Service can be slow, but everyone is nice.
Report This ReviewMy boyfriend and I come here almost every week. They have great beer and food specials and great food. The chef is always trying out new ideas and keeps the good ones. Their one dessert, the Skillet Cookie is better than any fancy dessert in the city, just be sure to split it! As a bar, Mikey and the other bartenders are a lot of fun, the atmosphere is great during the week, but a little yuppiesh on the weekends. Unfornately, as a non-smoker, I'm a not big fan of the owner who decided NOT to go smoke-free when it is already smoke free in the back till late, and all the staff I know doesnt smoke either.
Report This Reviewgreat place to watch a game, especially if you're a marquette or u of i fan. the fish tacos are the best in city.
Report This ReviewUsed to be great, before
the new staff, Bring back
Murphy as the bartender
If you are looking for great "bar food" this is the place to go. THeir burgers are fantastic and the seasoned tater tots are amazing. I've been here many times and I'll be back plenty more!
