Rick's Bar offered a super comfortable vibe and a relaxed atmosphere, but at the same time the staff was keenly attentive with their service. I can't believe I got this far without mentioning the food - Wow! Amazing! The place is family owned and operated and the food has all the care that would come out of your own mother's kitchen - If your mom could turn out some kick-butt, high-end, over-the-top, better-than-any-I've-ever-had-before, pub grub! The portions were big and the ingredients tasted very fresh. The food was served on colorful plates, not tossed into plastic baskets - again, kinda like your mom's kitchen. I liked the fact that the fries were golden crispy and served without being salted; to me that a sign of a conscientious cook. Overall, Rick's is a great place with great food! It is a bright spot at the corner of Taylor and Western, right by UIC.

This is one of my favorite corner bars in the city. It has good food, cheap beer and friendly regulars. Its a really good way to shake off a nasty day and not hurt your wallet. Steps from UIC, Working bikes and the blue line ( in case you get carried away). I really enjoy this place, the staff and the owners.
