Paulie's Place
- Neighborhood: Pilsen/Heart of Chicago/Little Village
- 1750 S. Union Ave.
- Chicago, IL 60616
- 312-829-7724
Perhaps the only bar in Pilsen that opens at 7 a.m., Paulie's caters to second-shift workers during the day and neighborhood students and artists at night. Pool sharks haunt the sky-blue back room, but the life of the party centers around the front room, where Paulie's daughter tends bar. The jukebox is stuffed full of cheesy rock (even Journey's music loses its nostalgic value after a while), but most beers are two bucks, and most liquor is $2.50. A word to the wise: The drinks at Paulie's are unusually strong.
