I agree. This place is surviving on memories of John Belushi and Chris Farley ... and because it's a 4:00 bar. Hire some bartenders that aren't so miserable and maybe you would get some repeat business. Until you do, you certainly won't get mine!
Report This ReviewThis place is full of itself. Their beer selection is fairly limited, and the prices are relatively high, but the worst part is the service! The bartenders are EXTREMELY SLOW, never smile, never say thank you, and act as if they can't wait for you to leave. What's with these people?!?
Report This ReviewThe Old Town Ale House fully lives up to its title "Chicago Premeir Dive Bar."
The jukebox is one of the best you'll find in the city. The welcoming atmosphere radiates from the hundreds of paintings of regulars covering every inch of wall space. Tap selection is good, bottle better.
I would be very hard pressed to find a bar that merges singularity, affordability, art and music as well as the Old Town Ale House does.
Ale House used to be my favorite hangout when I lived in Chicago. It has imbibed some of the great ones....Dan Ackroyd & Jim Belushi used to take breaks from Second City-across the street, playing pinball, Chris Farley spent a rousing night there just before he died, famous writers, artists, poets, intellects and just general GREAT people have spent their time there and THAT is what has created the ambience The Ale House is famous for!! And let's not forget Markie!!! Meet him at the door!!!
Report This ReviewThe best place in the whole world if you wanna have a good time in a bouncing atmosphere. Travel all the way from Evanston as a regular and love it! Jukebox carries wide selection of tunes and lowest costing miller lite I have found while being in Chicago. Easily a four star late-night bar! Have a blast at "Ye Old Ale House!"
