Added Grautity for $50 or More?!

Morgan's Bar and Grill is your basic bar in terms of ambiance, food and drink however, their service and billing practices are below par. When we asked out waitress to show the DePaul/Marquette game on a nearby TV that was featuring a "classic" game we were met with a flat, "We can't do that." after which she walked away. Although irratating, it was not a big deal and we went on to enjoy our meal. The real reason for this below average rating came when the check arrived. An afternoon lunch, including several alcoholic beverages, had totalled around $53 which was not surprising. However, the surprise came with the 18% added gratuity for our party of THREE. We were immediately turned off and made sure to warn other patrons from our group (we were at UIC supporting a family member during a high school dance competition) to be wary of the incredible over-charging for mediocre service. I don't believe that this practice is fair to the customer and I will not be visiting again. 18% is too much tip for poor service.

Morgan's has outstanding food and even better service. I love the bartending staff. The employees are allowed to rip shots and interact with patrons so it makes for a great time. As far as comparing Morgan's to the other neighborhood bars, it is far better tiime and I strongly recommend it.

Morgan's service is inexcusably awful. Although the place was EMPTY on my first visit, it took the hostess a good 5 minutes to figure out where she wanted to seat us. Then, it took a server nearly 10 minutes to acknowledge our table. I gave Morgan's a second chance. The waitress brought our drinks 15 minutes after we ordered them & was almost happy to tell us that the kitchen was backed-up 35 minutes. We decided to stay because we had just ordered drinks. Some 20 minutes later she informed us that the kitchen ran out of what we ordered. However, she didn't even have the order correct. We left Morgan's & won't ever return.

We live in Michigan .When we go to Chicago--Morgan's is the spot we hit on the way home.We are some of the original baby-boomers--so we probably have a different feeling about Morgan's than some of the reviews.WE LOVE IT THERE !!!
We just like going to Maxwell Street --even tho it is much different than back in the 60's
Looking forward to visiting again.

This is the worst establishment that I have experienced in quite some time. It took a 15-20 min to get a server who never introduced herself by name nor did she inform us about the drink or food specials. Our appetizers took 30 minutes to come out and it was cold. After I finished my first drink, I ordered 2 drinks on the menu which I was informed that they did not have not the ingredients to make the martini though the server provided us with the full martini menu with the drinks listed. The server occasionally revisited our table. My Shrimp PoBoy was extremely salty and very dry. When our bill came, gratuity was automatically added because we spent over $50 which meant it is automatically added regardless of the service. The manager and server wanted to debate my opinion of the service and food experience. Surprisely the manager informed us that our server was their top server which is hard to believe. I only wish that I has read the other reviews before we dined in. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY!

Attitude problem

I have gone to this place several times since it has opened and I am amazed at how I have consistently gotten attitude from the barstaff and the doormen. I have been loudly and embarrassingly accused of not paying for a drink and on more than one occasion, been ignored by the bartenders although the bar is half empty. Since my visits have been far between and personnel has changed, the problem must lie with the management. This place is nothing special; and I rarely see a large crowd in there. Junior's across the street is much nicer and the people are super friendly. I have given this place enough chances. My last visit to Morgan's will be my last visit.

Over the last few years Morgan's has struggled with the neighborhoods slow uprising but fought continuiously to provide the people with what they want. They have free bus trips to bears games, ESPN radio on Sundays, Live music on wednesdays and saturdays, and kickass thursdays with the karaoke contest that gives away a Vegas Trip with CASH! If anyone has a problem don't ever hesitate to ask Dan for anything.

the one in mokena is 30x better, i lived in orland park for a while and was a fan of morgans in mokena...i have given this morgans a number of chances...the service just sucks...on one occasion, the waitress screwed up my order not once not twice but three times, i was obviously upset...then she brang out the check and tried to auto grat(uity) the check for just me and my boyfriend...when the manager came out...she treated my like a criminal and for refusing to pay the auto gratuity...i was tempted to leave the waitress nothing, but im a waitress so i left her something...bad staff all around bad food all around
