Service is definitely horrible, so be prepeared to wait, and not have your waitress care much at all about you.. Steak sandwich is one of the best and best deals in chicago. Moodys outdoors is very relaxing, but again you might feel a little stress when flagging down waitresses and finding one that cares about you and your order. Service is really bad. Order food and sangria and if you allow yourself at least an hour you should pretty much enjoy your experience

The beer garden is fantastic--huge, comfortable, and almost romantic. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired; once we got a table our waitress was pleasant, but it took about 5 minutes at the (dead) bar before the bartender deigned to acknowledge us. Onion rings came out first and were hot and delicious. Our burgers and fries, unfortunately, took awhile and for some reason were cold. And as for other people's comments about how dark it is inside the bar--I think it's to hide the filth. Bar was COVERED with dirty glasses, and the front area had a bunch of dirty trays and garbage that looked like it was leftover from an earlier party.

I would give it 6 stars if i could. The best beer garden in the city. I highly recommend the Moody Blue Burger. Deeelicious! Ive been going to Moodys since i was a kid and I have never been let down.

The location is great, the outdoor garden is a beautiful setting. That's the best I can do. Some of the outside chairs are very uncomfortable. I won't eat inside - why do they keep it so dark? Are they hiding something? My family keeps trying it as we love having it in the neighborhood, but our last visit - service was bad and the everyone's food was cold - really cold. Hamburgers and french fries - cold? Doesn't seem possible right. I couldn't believe. Someone could really make something nice out of this place.

We went around 10pm on a Friday night and it was very crowded which I thought was a good sign. The outdoor garden is great--it's spacious and comfortable; not too loud and very lively. However, the service was awful and our waitress was completely rude (she even stopped talking to us so it was a bit awkward when she plopped our food down in front of us without saying a thing). Most disappointing, however, was that the food was simply awful. The burger is no where near as big as they claim and there is nothing at all special about it. The fries were a small, greasy pile. With so many more joints in the Edgewater/Andersonville area we will not be going back.

I would love to say nice things about Moody's food, which I have enjoyed in the past, but this time I cannot. A small group including out-of-town guests went to Moody's over Memorial Day weekend and could not even get a server to take our order. We decided to leave after 20 minutes of being ignored.

Moody's may definitely be for a certain type of crowd, just like some people are enthusiastic about Indian food, but others are weirded out by it. On nice nights, we usually have to wait 20 minutes for a table outside, and they have a very large outdoor area. Besides one experience with a VERY lousy waitress in the summer of 2007 (I'm sure others know the one I'm talking about; she was actually somewhat comical), we've always have a great time there, and we go there a lot. Yes, it is dark, and yes, the food is greasy and you don't always get the burger done the way you ask for, but it's always damn tasty, and the fries are fresh cut. Not too much beer selection, but still something for everyone. If you are a bit more of a hearty person who enjoys a decent burger, fries and beer, and a lovely nighttime outdoor atmosphere, and doesn't mind the occasional bizarre server, you'll probably like Moody's.

Last Saturday was my first time there. When I looked at the menu, I saw an 1pound steak for $10. Well, the steak was not too bad, and I think is a good place to hang out with friends. I surly will go back there again.

Very dark, dark dark inside. The food was touted to us by friends for having the best burgers around. We don't think so. I have had better burgers from Culvers. The service and prices were good. The atmosphere was good for the winter but maybe just a bit too dark. Too many restaurants in Chicago for me to return though. Added bonus for having parking.

The waitresses are so rude. We waited for about half an hour before being seated in a remote section of the patio. We waited another 20 mins for our server to return, but a different one showed up and yelled at us for "sitting in a closed section."
The burger was dry, they don't accept credit cards, and I can't get the smell of grease out of my jacket.
Ick, ick, ick.
