If you've ever been to Mike's Ale House in Portage Park, you have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the new Edgewater location. Same ambitious bar menu (though slightly smaller) and same great selection of tapped and bottled craft beers. Burgers are the house specialty: half-pound, hand-packed meaty jobs encased in butter-dipped buns and served alongside a mound of Tater Tots. Choose from 10 cheeses, 10 toppings and several sauces, including smoked provolone, caramelized onions, guacamole and spicy chipotle sauce. Or, try the hockey puck-sized crab cakes with chipotle sauce, pico de gallo, fried spaghetti and a drizzle of cilantro oil. Still not convinced? Here's the kicker: buy three drinks (including coffee and soda) and any entree on the menu is free. All day, everyday.
