Long-time Northwest Side bar owner Tom Trier bought the building next to his old shot-and-a-beer joint and opened a combined liquor store-upscale pub. With a refurbished antique mahogany bar, eight plasma screen TVs and two dartboards, MCM Pub and Eatery--named after Trier's kids Megan, Connor and Michael--draws a diverse neighborhood crowd as well as regulars from the old bar. There are 75-plus bottled beers on offer, plus Blue Moon, Guinness, Hacker-Pschorr, MGD and Miller on tap. Trier also recruited former Cans and McNamara's chef Eddie Ramirez to spearhead the menu. Sandwiches range from burgers and grilled salmonto Tommy's Favorite Reuben with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing atop corned beef from Joseph's Meat Market in Geneva. Plenty of sharable bar snacks, including spinach-artichoke dip, steak or waffle fries and deep-fried mac-and-cheese bites. Free wi-fi. Bears raffles take place Sundays at game time.
