I read your review and I decided to take your advice and try this place for the bangers and mash. It was delicious. And the London Pride beer...yum! I've always passed this place by, but never again will I just walk passed. Anyone shopping on Michigan Ave or working around Northwestern hospital needs to try this place.
Report This ReviewThis place is great! It's such a warm and cozy place to be after work having a beer. The people are friendly, the food is good, and the beer is always tasty. These folks sure know how to pour a beer.
Report This ReviewOne of our favorite spots for a casual week night dinner. Stick with the "pub foods," and you will not be disappointed. This is a place for a beer and some bangers and mash. . . not a Cosmo and salad, if you know what I mean.
Report This ReviewMy husband and I went here for dinner last night and needless to say, we won't be back. We ordered drinks, an appetizer and dinner. My mojito came flat, which is understandable, but then my replacement drink didn't reappear for a good 20 minutes (and I was out of water that whole time with no refill in sight). The food at this location is average, just basic bar food, and it comes to fast. Normally I like to have my appetizer and drink quickly and then my meal can come when I'm close to being done with my appetizer. This isn't how Elephant & Castle serves their food. It is basically back to back so you feel rushed. I think it is fine for a basic lunch spot, but to go out and spend $65 and have an overall poor dinner experience isn't something I will return for.
Report This ReviewThis is by far the best Elephant & Castle in Chicago. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable. The bar is jammed packed with a variety of beers from England to Ireland to Belgium (and of course your domestics). Beers are poured the way they're supposed to, are deliciously cold, and full of flavor. The food is wonderful. Everyday they have a different lunch special and soup. It's a good change of pace if you've already had all their food. The big must haves... beer battered shrimp, steak salad, any of their sharing plates (during dinner only) and of course fish and chips. ENJOY IT!!!! You'll thank me!
Report This ReviewWe were going to see a show at the Chicago Theatre and stopped in here for a drink, it wasn't super crowded and we found a small table against the wall. We sat down and waited for a bit, no cocktail server in sight so we thought we could get a drink at the bar. My husband went to the bar, the bartender ignored him. He moved to a new spot at the bar, she still ignored him. He finally got her attention, she told him that since we were at a table we should get a drink from the cocktail server. She did actually get us drinks, but she was pretty rude about it. We were in the bar area, I don't see why she didn't want to serve us, there was no cocktail server to be seen! By the way the Guinness was not poured correctly!!!!
Like the previous poster said a very "disney like" british pub. But without the "Disney" customer service!!!
This is the coziest place is the area for great beers and traditional English food. The Waiter recommended the Irish Stew and it was delicious. Tuesday Night is the best because they have live trivia which creates a fun atmosphere, even if your not participating.
Report This ReviewOverall, pretty mediocre. The atmosphere is pleasant (in a Disney World, fake British sort of manner). The food is rather poor: bangers and mash (which one would imagine to be good at such an establishment) was simply a gas-inducing mistake.
