Beers and scotch are great. Service has been an awful with a tad of bit of insolent sprinkled on top. I expect service not attitude, and they sit down in the middle of the restaurant during service at a table in the middle of the place. Ambience is ok for a bar, but it feels old and tired like a place riding on a reputation long ago earned but not kept up. You have to tell them how to pour a beer correctly so it has a head and to keep the metal tip out of the glass. The fish is good as I go there for the fish and chips. The chicken sandwich is good as well. If it is busy at the bar, do not expect the bartender to actually pay attention and take care of you. It will not happen. I go for the fish and chips and a beer, but it is not a place to hang out for the evening. I visit a couple of times a year.

Very very very disappointing that the Fish is actually frozen Fish versus fresh fish dipped in homemade batter. ; - (

The Duke of Perth has the best Fish & Chips ever! I lived in London for a year and can honestly say the Duke of Perth is better than any fish & chips I ever had "over there." Also, I once had a problem with payment (I paid with once of those stupid "rebate" pre-paid credit cards) and the owner called me PERSONALLY to straighten it out.

Highly recommended!!

Worst service ever

The fish and chips are okay, but the service is AWFUL. On on occasion, we were completely ignored by our server for the duration of the meal. After we finally flagged her down for our check, she took about 20 minutes doing who knows what, then chatted endlessly with the table beside us. In contrast, we did not get so much as a smile or a thank you the whole meal. The few others times I've been, service was incredibly slow and aloof.

Neighborhood establishment with interesting group of regulars. Adequate Scotch selection, limited variety of one dimentional Scotch Brews and sometimes poorly maintained lines to the kegs. In other words, one will never savor any exceptional brew, here. One will need to go to Hopleaf for that. They need to wake up to what is available out there. The ar food is very good; soups are great. The bar staff is excellent. Mike provides the personality of the establishment. Without him, the Duke would not exist. The owner, who is usually present is either very shy or very arrogant. Despite repeated visits will never notice your existence. Great opportunity for a new establishment on the block.

Great service...they have the nicest servers.
Rugged atmosphere and low key crowd, perfect for a night of beers and fried food with friends.
Awesome selection of imported beers and liquors (Scottish...!)- and fairly priced.
Any of their burgers are the way to go, and the fried mac and cheese bites.

what happened? while the atmosphere and service here are great and the beer/scotch/cider etc list good, the food is awful! sat outside last night on the patio and had the worst fish and chips ever, overcooked, hardly any chips and small portion,...miss the side salad you used to get as well..food used to be so good here? did ownership change or something?, kitchen definitely has....bummer.

If you're looking for what feels like an authentic, nonamericanized, pub, the Duke of Perth is exactly what you want. The choice of beer on draft is unparallelled for it's size and the food is to die for. Do not miss all you can eat fish and chips on Friday's, you will not be disappointed. It is a perfect place to bring a date or a small group of buddies. My mouth is salivating just thinking of it.

One of the best bars in the city, also some of the best food you will ever get in a bar, anywhere. The curried strips of "lamb" are excellent. Not a bad place for buffalo wings, either, but the food specialties are definately the fish&chips, the shepard's pie, and the roquefort burger. Drinks are excellent.
