Danny's Tavern

Neighborhood: Bucktown/Wicker Park
1951 W. Dickens Ave.

Chicago, IL 60614
773-489-6457
This dark house-turned-tavern in Bucktown is not pretentious; it's a superb spot to check out experimental underground deejays at work, and still serves an inexpensive drink in an over-hyped artsy hood. You'll fit in as long as you're the urban, sensitive kind. No in-your-face obnoxious types allowed. Suburbanites on weekends only, please.

On most nights, you'll hear a mellow mix of hip-hop, rock, electronic, jazz and soul sounds. Forget Top 40 or anything aggressively hard-edge. Chamber classical music ushers in the weekend on Friday nights.

Yuppie/Nice Going Out Type Bars

These are slightly more expensive and yuppie-like bars that are for going out hard for some fun. Classier and more crowded, they are Munoz-like places usually reserved for the weekend.

Went Out in the City

Places I like to frequent for a good food and/or drinks in the big city
