Gotta love this place. Not the bar you'll go to on a Saturday night for wild times, but they have THE best staff that actually knows each person that walks in and what they drink. The owner is there almost every night and STILL BARTENDS! How cool is that? Could use a jukebox upgrade, but one of the best "chill" bars in Chicago.
Report This ReviewA true neighborhood bar, Cody's is my "old standby." Cheap beer and an amazing jukebox! Perfect for a relaxing night chatting with friends.
Report This ReviewIf you're looking for a good spot to spend a summer (or even winter) afternoon, or just a low key place to grab a brew and not be shoulder-to-shoulder, Cody's is your kind of place. It's actually very spacious for a corner bar (not just another long and skinny Chicago tavern) and there are plenty of dartboards. I haven't found an outdoor area that beats Cody's in all of Chicago. The bocce lane is great, the owner is very cool. Check it out.
Report This ReviewAwesome bar! Cheap beer. Great tunes. I love to just hang at the bar and hope the hot girls will talk to me.
Report This ReviewCody's rocks. Pure & Simple. It's old school -the people are real, the beer is cold, the prices are low, there's a beer garden and dogs are allowed. If you want more than that out of a bar, go to Lincoln Park or Division for gimmicks and themes. You won't find them here.
Report This ReviewGreat neighborhood joint. Never a wait for the dartboards, and the drinks are cold and very reasonably priced. Bathrooms have really cool clippings from 1960s papers on the walls. Only bummer is that there's no TV by the corner dartboard.
Report This ReviewGREAT neighborhood bar. Very spacious. Friendly bartenders. Gene, the owner, has a quiet, rough exterior, but is a DEFINITE sweetheart. This bars feel is NOTHING like a lincoln park, or lakeview bar. No fi-fi's. Very down-to-earth people. Good jukebox. Dogs allowed. Great beer garden..all around my kind of bar.
Report This ReviewIf not raising your beer prices during the recent baseball playoffs when every other bar in the city is gouging patrons is weird, well I guess the owner is a little weird. The juke is loaded with punk, jazz, r+b and new rock which is refreshing in a neighborhood where you would more expect the likes Sinatra or Abba. Ordering food in is a breeze and the staff is always attentive yet low key. If you are looking to be entertained this isnt the place. If you have a little time to kill, not many places are better. I always end up staying longer than I planned.
