$4 for a bottle of High Life? Really? Really?
I love the back room and the ambiance of the entire place is top notch but gee golly gosh, the prices are ridiculous. What is this, the Gold Coast all of a sudden?
Report This ReviewIf you're looking for a low-key neighborhood spot to grab a beer this is your place. I'm usually not big on dive bars, but they manage to pull it off without being overly "divey." I guess you could call it a girl friendly dive bar.
Report This ReviewAlthough I'd assume it gets REALLY crowded towards the 2am turn... It was VERY comfortable between the hours of 10-12 this past Friday night. Comfortable seating. Good drinks. No line for the swank individual bathrooms. Service was attentive. I'll be back. ...and I'll keep coming back... until it gets taken over by the punks from LP.
Thanks Matt. A nice addition to the hood.
Report This ReviewSix gals, including myself, went to Bar Deville after hearing great reviews. We planned on staying there for awhile (think $$$ for the bar) to celebrate one girl's birthday. We came ready to have a great time! first off, the bar doesn't even have olives for martinis! What bar is not stocked with olives?. When my friend settled on a gin martini with lemon, she took one sip and said it didn't taste as good as or even similar to the same martini the bday girl was drinking. They refused to replace it, told us they were the same, and brought us our check as if to completely tell us to get out of there! Extremely disrespectful and rude.
I will never go there again--they just lost 6 fab girls as customers
Report This ReviewI am completely in love with this place. It looks very unassuming from the outside, but it's super cute with a European retro flair inside. A bit like Violet Hour from what I hear. But very chill and unpretentious. They have fancy cocktails if you know what to ask for... and a hip-but-not-too-hip crowd. And they have a Gossip Girl night! So glad I only live two blocks away.
Report This Reviewif you want a bar that looks cool, and where the only thing worse than the blah drinks is the inattentive wait staff this is the place for you.
Report This ReviewThe neon sign is what caught my attention on a night when I just wanted a beer. The bartender, his name is Brad sat me down and made my night.
I shot a little pool, took a few black and white photos in the uber-cool photo booth. This place is definitely worth a visit or three.
It is so much bigger than it looks outside. If you have a group of friends, stop by...totally worth it.
I'm not much for writing reviews...I'm more into reading them. So, it isn't often that I write about a joint. However, I must say, I really like Bar DeVille. No, it's not the greatest place to watch a game.... but it is a great place to sit back and drink a good pint...or, a mixed drink if you're into something creative... the bartenders offer some interesting concoctions. Of course, they also have the old stand bys, like a pint of Pabst or glass of whiskey! Also, the pool table is free, which looks like it has new felt... sweet, only I suck at pool, by no fault of the table. We also tried the photobooth, which takes some of the best pictures I've ever seen in a bar. Who doesn't like a vintage photobooth?? All in, Bar DeVille is a place you can go on a weeknight just to enjoy a drink and decent conversation. And it ain't too shabby on the weekend either. If you're looking for a GOOD bar without a bunch of Lincoln Park transplants smelling up the joint, this is the place. It felt good to drink there, and at the end of the day, that's all that matters...
Report This ReviewOkay, so I convinced a 5 friends to come out and try a new place on the biggest drinking nights of the year, very risky considering this was a new bar.
The Pros: I'm glad that it's in this neighborhood, you could see right away that the crowd was mixed from must-be-seen, laid-back casual and neighborhood folks all trying to stake a claim to this new bar. The backroom decor is unique in style and very comfortable and inviting. The front room was very spacious and seating appeared comfy.
The Pool room was large with one table.
The Cons: Front room, too spacious for just standing and not enought seating, guess you have to show up early to get a seat. Pool room...only one table! It's free I guess. The back room could use more seating, it's awesome, more seating would allow others to enjoy it.
Ths bathrooms, they were very nicely decorated but I was tired of going in and having to put the toilet seat down. Gross!!!! No one (especially women) likes a unisex bathroom. Get better signage on those doors!!!!! And I know the place is new but having only one waitress taking drink orders in the back was bruttal AND on a busy night!!!!??!!!! My group of 5 had to get up and walk all the way to the front to get our drinks but I must give it to the bar tenders in the front, they were very fast and attentive despite that fact that it got really crowded as the night went on. And how about we actually air the popular games of the evening??? I guess the owners aren't into sports and it showed.
All in all....it's a nice place that that requires a few changes, mainly bathroom signage and more seating throughout and turn down the music for some actual conversation in the back which is what that room is for right? I couldn't hear my group and had to yell most of the night. I would go back with friends to try it out again and hope some changes will be made otherwise this place is a pass for even me who is always willing to try things a few times.
