Went there because of the writeups. This is not good Mexican in any way. Fodd is below average. Pork Adobo was way overcooked with burnt edges. It came so fast I firmly believe everything on the platter was precooked and put on the hot platter to it was even more overcooked. Appetizer plate was a mess. If you're idea of Tex-Mex is lots of cheese on everything, lettuce, tomatoe, then you'll like. I won't be going back, ever.

Nice mexican spot, in a great location. Very reasonably priced!! Staff was helpful. Overall just wasn't authentic enough for my tast on a regular basis, but worth a stop for a cheap margarita and taco when your in the neighborhood.

After a couple of disappointing meals at Lalo's, we decided to try Blue Agave. We went on a Friday night, it was packed with people having a great time at the bar while waiting for a table. Bartenders were quick with drinks and things just got better. The salsa was fantastic and the chicken poblano was so good I think I'm hooked!! Can't wait until the weather gets warmer so we can hang out on the patio with margarita's.

Love this place. Nice patio in the summer & great bar in the winter. Food tastes great & is reasonably priced too. Would recommend to anyone. Check out Restaurant.com for discounted gift certificates - when the discount is available, you can get upwards of 80% of a $25 gift card. Last month I scored $100 worth for $20. You can use them at anytime & alcohol can be included.

Moving up to Chicago from South Florida, this place reminds me of home. The margaritas are outrageous. Great selection of Tequilla. TRY THE MINI TACOS! Worth the trip everytime! My sister is flying intown this weekend and thats the first place were going when she gets off the plane.
One down side; the place is loud. We always try to sit upstairs on the balcony to avoid some of the noise. Also, service has been slow at times, but really, after 3 margaritas... who cares?

Went early (6 pm) on a Saturday night. Server was very pleasant and helpful. Chips and salsa were plentiful and good (nice salsa--a little kick, but very balanced). Our entrees were excellent --I give two thumbs up to my sides of cliantro/lime rice and black beans. Most importantly, the price was right. Downside? We were seated upstairs on a hot, muggy evening and the air conditioning could best be described as woeful. Good place to plug into the Rush/State St. scene if you want to avoid Irish pub food or if you don't want to sell the farm to eat at the tonier places nearby.

My husband and I never write off a place if we have just one bad experience. But when it happens twice, no way will we ever go again.
The first time we went, the bartender was rude for no reason so we left. The second time, we got sat right away for dinner. It started off well with what seemed like an attentive waiter and the back up staff. Well that lasted for all of 10 minutes.
We ordered a second round of drinks and never got them -- well after waiting over 30 minutes. This was a slow night there so there was no reason for the wait.
The food was below average and pricey.
I would totally skp this place and certainly never recommend it. Too bad -- there needs to be a good Mexican spot in the Gold Coast area -- and this is definitely not it..ever...

I like the neighborhood feel of Blue Agave. It's in the most touristy area of the city however; it is always full of regulars. I have been hanging out there for years and always feel comfotable like it's my own neighborhood pub. Sarah, Kristen, Heather, Steve, Cindy, Briget, Abel and all the gang at Blue, you Rock!! Margarota's at Blue are the best in the city!

OK, I know the area is not exactly known for kid friendly, family restaurants, but Blue Agave is always a hit with my 8 and 12 year old kids. They love going there. The atmosphere is always fun and now that there is no smoking it is nice to hang out in. My kids love the food - especially the salsa and guacamole. The Margaritas are awesome - but one is plenty! I really love their seafood dishes and also the ribs. The service is always friendly. The patio is great for people watching. I hear they have fish tacos now but I have not tried them yet. Fish Tacos Rock!!!!!
