Cesar's
2924 N. Broadway - Chicago773-296-9097
I have been a frequent customer of Cesars on Broadway and have always had a great time. The food is always fresh, the staff is very attentive and the margaritas are outstanding. It can get rather busy at times so there could be a wait, but it is worth it. If in doubt, call ahead and see if there is a wait. I have tried quite a few of their menu items, but tend to migrate toward the chef's specials as they are genearlly very, very good. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area, but I almost always end up at Cesars b/c I know I am going to get the same conistently good service and food that I expect when I go out.

I got one of the jumbo margaritas or whatever it was called. It was decent. I mean 10 bucks for a huge 22 oz (I can't remember) margarita? I wasn't expecting it to be made with fresh lime juice, some agave... blah blah blah. The enchiladas I had were pretty good. Our server was friendly, but a little timid. Complementary chips and salsa was nice--I wish more places would do that (like Zocalo and De Cero!)

After a 2 hour dinner that should have laster 1, the "manager" came to speak to us about our bill. They refused to apologize abot our horrible experience and ruined the enite night that i was trying to spend with my friends from out of town. I will NEVER go to this restuarant again!!!!

I was a guest at a party there, and It was very expensive per person (over $50) considering the price didn't include tip yet. The margaritas were nothing spectacular, and for the amount of money we paid, I was hoping there would be more than chips and quesadillas with wilted and slime-ish lettuce inside. I don't plan on ever going back there considering there are MUCH better places in the city for Mexican food.

I walked in one freezing weekday night, when the place was almost dead, and told the host that I would like a table for two, and the other person would be showing up in a minute. He snottily informed me that I had to wait at the bar until my partner arrived and then we would be seated. There was maybe two four-tops in the whole place! Our actual server was friendly, but the host gave me attitude again when I returned looking for gloves I thought I had left there. The food and drinks were average at best but the complimentary tequilla shots at the end of the meal were a nice touch.

We had a party of 15+ people and when we made our reservation they didn't tell us it was cash only. Their entire upstairs (which is all large parties) is cash only. Besides that annoyance the food was crap.
Report This ReviewExperience was awful and food was bland. They offer Chicken, Steak or Shrimp Fajitas. You can combine Chicken with Shrimp, but not Steak with Shrimp. Huh? When asked why, and even offered to pay extra, they actually said no to extra cash and rudely gave no explanation except, that's just the way it is... Will never return. Wish I could vote a 0 for absolute nonsense.
Report This Reviewi was reading the reviews for this restaurant. i decided to take the risk and give this place a chance. i dont know if i am very lucky but i was very happy with this place. everyone was very nice, the margaritas are some of the best i've tried and the food is ok. it was a nice experience from the time i was seated 'til the server dropped the check. i will definetly go back.
Report This ReviewCesar's USED to be my favorite Mexican restaurant, but after our last 2 visits, we won't be going back. The food has slipped but is still okay and I still love the margaritas, but the service is horrible. When we lived in the neighborhood and visited weekly, they treated us like royalty. But apparently after we crossed Diversey, our money was no longer good enough for them. The staff lets you sit for 10-15 minutes, takes your order, and starts the clock. Your drinks, appetizers, soup, entree, and check then come in rapid fire succession, generally before you're ready for them. It's generally not busy enough for them to rush people the way they do unless they spent so much money on decorations they couldn't afford to buy enough dishes. Many better Mexican restaurants in LP and Lakeview.
Report This ReviewFood was not that great. Service was not that great. Margaritas were weak. Just generally not thrilled with this place - I can't understand why its always crowded.
