I've been to the Underbar about ten times. Easy parking, good mix of music, earlier is better if you'd like to sit and talk. Great Place. I brought a large group there a year or so ago and they were very accommodating.

Wow. Why isn't every bar like this? Great, eclectic music. Great, eclectic bartenders. I like the afternoons when you can claim a corner of the place for you and your friends. Or late, late night, when interesting people show up by the butt-load, both the kind you want to meet and the other kind. Underbar gets two very enthusiastic big toes and thumbs up from me.

Much to my surprise, I liked this place. I anticipated another in the seemingly endless stream of corporate bars opened recently that try to cater to everyone, but end up appealling to no one. Shockingly, this bar actually has a bit of character. First thing I noticed was good music, not a lame (and lazy) satellite radio feed, but actually well thought out selections. They also have a decent beer list and a friendly staff. I count this as one of the few victories for Chicago drinkers in the recent spate of bar openings.
