Silver Cloud Bar & Grill

I went to the Silver Cloud the about two weekends ago. There are very few places to go to get a decent brunch in the neighborhood that aren't ridiculously crowded. I had the french toast, which was on a huge platter. It was delicious, the service was okay. The atmosphere was laid-back, with everyone watching the Bears game, and the food was pretty cheap.
Cut to this past Sunday-I went back at about 1:00p.m. I sat myself, as requested, and then proceeded to sit there waiting for about 10 minutes for anyone to come over and assist me. The server had an attitude, like my being there was an inconvenience to her. I asked for coffee, and told her, as I had the week before, that I would need a bowl of sugar packets because I tend to go through a lot of sugar. Makes it easier for HER than having to keep filling up the container, right? She tells me that they don't do that, and that if I need sugar, it's right there on the table (!). She was rude, nasty, and inefficient. I paid for the coffee and left. I waited tables all through college and I never treated anyone like that. I will never go back there, nor recommend it to anyone.

Report This ReviewSeriously some of the best burgers in town. The brie burger is awesome.
Expect a bar that serves darn good food, not a fancy restaurant. Decent service - never great. Sometimes they take a long time to bring drinks. Never had anything bad there, except the red pepper hummus which has an off taste to it. I'm sure some of their comfort foods are foods that people have really strong associations with - so if you're craving your grandma's pot pie, you might be let down - no matter how good it is.
Report This ReviewHaha, who are these people writing these bad reviews? I think they were expecting champagne and white tableclothes. Not only does Silver Cloud have the best home style cooking I've ever had, they're friendly, fast, and always welcoming. I have yet to have a bad experience there and I go at least once every other week. They servce breakfast until 4, for those hung over Saturdays, and on Sundays they have bloody mary's that could be enough for your meal. Basically, if you want to chill, relax, and hang out with friends while eating great food in a great atmosphere, this is the place to go, hands down.
Report This ReviewIf only I could give negative stars... The service was the worst I've ever had. From the moment we sat down we seemed to be a huge inconvenience to our server- she snapped at us for taking too long to order and never once came back to check on us or refill coffee. All of our food orders came out wrong. I got no dressing with my salad, one salad was completely forgotten, the soda was flat... And the manager, when told that we had been waiting a long time and had to get going pretty soon, told us that if we wanted a quick meal, we shouldn't have picked Silver Cloud. Nice. We won't make that mistake again.
Report This ReviewI came here for dinner to celebrate me and my boyfriend's birthdays with about 10 of our closest friends. They made good accomodations to seat us since we did make reservations. BUT the food is HORRENDOUS...honestly the worst. We each ordered something different from the menu PLUS appetizers (Artichoke Dip and "White Pizza" I think....both VERY salty and terrible). Every single person did not like their entree. At the end of the night...my boyfriend jokingly asked "We get free cake right??" The server was like "uh...yeah...possibly" but we definitely didn't get any. Oh and they're "famous" s'mores...they're actually just plain ol' smores that you can make in the microwave at home, marshmallow wasn't even toasted!
Report This ReviewVery disappointing. The sloppy Joe was supposed to be one of the specialties and it was terrible. The place had their awards posted all over the place. Obviously there wasn't much competition for these awards. Never going back.
Report This ReviewSilver Cloud USED to be a favorite place for dinner. Went on a Fri night, 7:30pm. Atmosphere was horrible: Very smoky, and the Heavy Metal music was so loud, I couldn't hear my boyfriend across the booth. When I asked if they could turn it down, they said the music was "bartenders choice" and it was completely up to the bartender on duty. It remained loud. Service was neglectful and inaccurate. My fish came in tinfoil cooked with the equivalent of a whole raw onion, sliced; oh, and a touch of lemon. My boyfriends "vegetable platter" was a pile of nearly whole vegetables that might have touched hot water with some salt. Again, there was a half of onion in tact on his plate. Does the cook love onions? The vegetables were tasteless and hard. We got out of there as quickly as possible, and will not be returning. There are many better options in Bucktown.
Report This ReviewA warm and friendly bar and grill for all ages. We could be the parents of most of the crowd but we always feel welcome. The roasted Greek-style 1/2 chicken is STUPENDOUS. Outdoor dining in summer is great also.
Report This ReviewI really liked this place. If you are looking for comfort food this is a great option. I loved the black bean nachos and smores! Very casual and laid back.
