Went to Rodan for brunch on Sunday. I've been living in Bucktown for two Years and Never noticed it...what a Mistake I've made. The Atmosphere was very Comfortable and at the same time Swanky. The Service was Wonderful. They have great Bloody Marys, can't wait to try a Rasberry Bellini! In terms of Food, this was one of the best Brunches I've had in a long time!!!! See you soon Rodan!
Report This Reviewthis place has the worst service. the bar was staffed by a single bartender who didn't know with the wine list (i asked for something from the menu, to which he snottily replied, "we don't have that.")
we were never seated. interesting tactic.
once we found a seat, we were ignored. as an experiment, we built a sculpture from the previous party's glasses, which were never collected. the waitress noticed long enough to take them, but never put 2 and 2 together long enough to realize that we'd like to spend some money.
the ambiance is okay -- formulaic modernist drag -- but with crap followthru: rather than mirrors, the restrooms use closed-circuit cameras. they weren't working. i mean, come on. if you're going to be gimmicky, make sure it works.
i'm probably not going back. it was a joke. the staff were dressed like stars, but they were too busy posing to run a restaurant.
Report This ReviewI went here for brunch since the lines to all the other Milwaukee Ave restaurants had lines out the door. The service was attentive but the waitress was a little overloaded at the time and brought me the wrong coffee which she immediately remedied and apologized for. I had the Japanese omelette with toast which was served in under seven minutes from when I ordered it still hot and fresh. This omelette needs a little more "bite" to it. Spinach and sesame oil don't quite complete the experience and it leaves something to be desired. The yucca and potato side was excellent. Not too spicy but not bland either as is the typical case with breakfast potato dishes. The viatnamese-style coffee was excellent.
Report This ReviewWho ARE these people that hated this place so much?! The food is really outstanding, some very interesting, flavorful choices for vegetarians. Service can be slow, but the brunch manager (I wish I remembered his name)is very attentive and courteous. I highly recommend the quinoa stew (the waitress said it used to be bland, but it sure wasn't when we had it, loaded with various peppers and nuts) and the coconut milk curry. Seating isn't so comfortable, but music and ambience range from tolerable to nice; but then, I'm very hard to please in that respect. I can't say this enough, the food is awesome!!!!
