Good Venue, but fire some staff members
By ray from South Loop, January 12, 2009

Great place to go, but bottle service is awful. Most staff are friendly, but the few bad apples will ruin your night. When a lounge is trying to play the "classy" card, you would think the staff dealing with table service should be respectful. One of them would not allow the person actually spending hundreds of dollars on the bottle service to even get to his table because, he said the area was full. Some "VIP" treatment. The person was rude and actually began swearing and yelling, when everyone else was calm. Wow those ties and jackets are really deceptive! Classy.

Not bad

The venue is visually stunning and I like that you have to take an elevator to get to it. Some of the staff there was really cool, but they were "beat down" by the norm of what is expected in this place. The music was cheesy euro-progressive style and the mixing was just okay. I felt like the dj was not very passionate about what he was doing. The drinks are very pricey, but I guess that is the norm for the downtown crowd. The place has potential.

I will never go here again!

The first time I went to NV I thoug hit was a cute lounge and was excited about the outdoor area-even though it was cold at the time. I was waiting on my friends when the lights turned on, and at the bouncer began yelling for everyone to leave I turned to tell my ride to leave and the bouncer grabbed my arm and told me that they were closing. How dare he! I was not even drunk or making a fuss, I was actually trying to leave. When he saw my friends were talking to one of the owners he backed off. That should have never happend.
On my second attempt to give NV another shot, I was treated rudely by the staff and, and the buss boys found it necessary to keep mopping the floor right where we were standing and mopped our feet as well, only leading us to spill our over priced drinks.
Bad experiance both times, I am not even waistin my time going there again!

I know better places to drink outdoors
By Michelle from River North, September 30, 2008

We went here on a Saturday night. Arrived at 11pm. There was no line. When we asked about sitting outside in a cabana we were told that the drink minimum was $900.00! Are you kidding me!! Only bottle service is done outside. We left. We didn't even have a drink inside. The music was very loud, space is small, there is no dancing or dance floor. If you want to drink outside I would highly recommend Japonais. Just make a reservation and enjoy! There is no drink minimum and the space outside is big and full of palm trees and candles. The outside area at NV is very small with no decor.

My husband and I recently visisted NV on a Saturday night and had a great time! We arrived roughtly at 11pm and were able to get in quickly. The lounge is really pretty, I loved the chandeliers and the decor...it was dark and mysterious, and the bar was beautiful. The music was awesome! Perfect for a girl that likes to dance to the latest hip-hip and house music, I really loved it. Sitting outside was a wonderful experience too...although this place is small, we really had a nice time, I would definitely go back!

Cool place...but

My friends and I enjoyed the atmosphere and music at NV. However, if you don't order bottle service or have a reserved table, there's pretty much no where to stand besides the bar. It would be a great place if there was more room for common-folk.

What a great experience!

My friends and I have been wanting to go check out NV for weeks and finally we all had the chance to go together. We were welcomed at the door by two very sweet and polite girls and one gentleman who was very willing to answer all our questions. We paid the cover $25 - (the girls were comped) and went up the elevator to the penthouse....wow...what a great place, the decor, the drinks, the service! At first we were a bit turned off by the $25 cover but once we got to soak up the scene it was well worth it. It was definately a more intimate space which was nice, everyone was so well dressed and behaved - it was nice to be in a place that was more sophisticated than where the usual club kids hang out bumping into you and spilling drinks on you. The dj was awesome! The security staff was very respectful and polite - the exact opposite of what we experienced a few times at other places. All in all a great place... so different and unique to chicago - great views and great service. Oh and the girls fell in love with the martinis and speciality drinks.

Only Cool if you have no place else to go
By ranger from ukranian village, July 3, 2008

By far heads and tails above Underground, NV is still a prentenious place where the bartenders have a difficult time mixing a martini. Lots of booty shaking from the dancers on display, so if your man has a wandering eye and likes to look at the ladies, don't take him hear. The atmosphere and crowd are decent. Just make sure you're on the guest list and that you prep the gents you're with to be ready to lay down the cash to get in the door.

Amazing place

I've been to several upscale lounges in Chicago and other cities. NV has an atmosphere that is nothing like other places in Chicago. It's more of a New York or Hollywood feel with the decor, attractive/well dressed people and great service from the staff. The music was great as the dj played everything from hip hop to house. The bottle service at NV is above and beyond other upscale lounges. At other lounges, your server puts your bottle down, walks away, and you don't see her till the bottle is done. The staff is very attentive at NV and makes you feel at home. I would reccomend it to anyone!

Fun place! A little pretentious..
By Sonia from Schaumburg, January 27, 2008

This place is pretty fun for a small group of friends. My friends and I started our night out here, and the concept of taking an elevator up to the lounge, struck me as pretty cool. (Reminds me of Vegas.) The place is very small..the balcony area, is only for VIP - which I feel is a little too much. It feels pretentious, and the music is just okay. Definitely a place worth checking out though.
