Market: User Reviews
Do not waste your time with this place unless you enjoy being insulted by the servers. My experience was absolutely terrible, due entirely to the staff. The physical space is not bad, not much different than anywhere else other than the very small rooftop area, but I could not stand the service, it was truly insulting.
Anyway, in my opinion there are many much better alternatives for the money, which by they way, you have to pay a lot for poor service here too.
Check it out at your own risk.
Report This ReviewHad a horrific experience with the slow/non-existent service when dining there - the attitude of the staff is laughable. They don't know the meaning of hospitality. Will be sure to spread the word to avoid this place at all costs.
Report This ReviewI've been to market half a dozen times at this point and have never had a bad experience. The staff are very friendly, the food is great (try to burgers or wings), and the drinks are very stiff. To top it off, the rooftop is pretty nice as well. The only downside to Market is that the wait can get pretty long on Thursday-Sunday and you can't take any glass bottles or drinks up to the roof. Other than that, this place rocks in terms of food, service, and there is a ton of eye candy that seems very open to meeting the opposite sex.
Report This ReviewI went to Market for the first time last week on a slighty cooler day. I could not have been more impressed by the ambiance, friendliness of the service staff, and the presentation and taste of the food. I was able to take a tour of all of the private event space too! The rooftop deck is fantastic -- lots of wood and great views. The 2nd floor space is perfect for a cocktail reception with a perfect little deck. The downstairs and outside patio were probably the most impressive though of all of the spaces. TVs everywhere. Great music. Plenty of seating. Loooong bar. Plus, I learned that in the winter there will be space heaters and an overhang so you can still go outside. This place is definitely worth checking out...
Report This ReviewThe place is amazing! The roof top and out door seating is the best way to enjoy Chicago summer. Great lounge atmosphere and they even have misters for the hot muggy days. I had the opportunity to eat there a few times and the food is amazing. It was my spot for the Blackhawks run in the playoffs, and I have to say a great place to watch a game. They even played and synced the game audio during the playoffs for the Bulls and Hawks.
Great food and a great crowd. Definitely an upscale place where I will be spending my summer :) Although it's a sports bar the food is comparable to an upscale establishment. I have to add great presentations as well.
I recommend the pizzas, body builder sandwich, ribs (are to die for) and burgers. All the appetizers are great too!
Report This ReviewI went to Market for a lunch outing with my co-workers. We sat on the patio to enjoy the nice weather. Place was packed with people from all over the neighborhood. We had pizzas and burgers and were able to catch the Cubs game while we ate. All-in-all, we had a nice time. Our waitress was friendly, food came out timely and was good. Definitely should try it out!
Report This ReviewNever got into the joint. At 11 am I made a reservation for 7 pm. They called 4 hours later and said they were overbooked. Can't take me until after 9 pm. I guarantee I got pushed out because I'm a nobody on a nice summer night. I would have tried to go back if they were upfront with me at the start.
Report This ReviewHave gone twice and both times the service took FOREVER and they are RUDE!!! Don't waist your time there ate hundreds of places to go in Chicago that have better food, service and atmosphere!!
Report This ReviewWhile at Market recently I enjoyed myself so much I would highly recommend it. I wasn't dressed to impress but my boyfriend and I wanted to check it out. We loved the roof! The staff was inviting and warm. The weather was perfect and we had the best time! I thought I would be uncomfortable because I wasn't dressed up but there were all types of different people having a great time and getting along as we were. There is something about a beautiful space, great wine and good service that can really set your mood. We had a chance to meet one of the managers named Tina and she really made us feel special by coming over to introduce herself. The downstairs space seemed fun too. I could see coming to watch football here in the fall. I am happy that Market moved into our neighborhood!
Report This ReviewThis place ruined my Sat. night - ridculous line, obnoxious people, terrible service and watered down drinks...luckily there's no way this place will make it after this summer. Sucks for them.
