Edge
- Neighborhood: East Village / Ukrainian Village
- 1700 W. Division St.
- Chicago, IL 60622
- 773-227-3100
- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
Edge boasts a prime corner location on Division, walls of windows and big U-shaped booths to cozy up with your crew. A backlit bar and contemporary light fixtures cast an amber glow throughout the space, which is divided into three areas: The bar, a front section of high-top tables and a back section of low-slung booths. In addition to wines by the glass and bottled beer, a specialty cocktail menu features unique ingredients such as elderflower liqueur, passionfruit juice and wildflower honey. As for munchies, expect a simple menu of shareable eats such as fried calamari, crab cakes and mini-burgers, plus more entree-like dishes such as chicken marsala. Coming soon behind the bar: An espresso machine to serve up spiked java drinks.
The rectangular layout looks simple, but owner Anastacio Gonzalez (who also developed the building) designed it with an eye for private parties. If you look closely you’ll spot two doors: one on Paulina near the back booth-filled section, and one on Division near what will be a fenced-in beer garden. Reserve either space for your own soiree and the public will be appropriately routed through the other door.

The food and drinks are overpriced and the club owner is rude. This place will probably not last long at all.
