This lounge located beneath New York import Mercadito is the brainchild of New York nightlife personality Aalexander Julian and Alfredo Sandoval, a partner in Mercadito. With 65-person capacity, this lounge is truly small, but the name doesn't refer to batteries or bra sizes, but rather the partners' first initials.
With that small size comes exclusivity. Reservations are only accepted for five or more people and can only be made via e-mail to manager and doorman Victor de Leon at victor@doubleachicago.com. Walk-in space is extremely limited.
Rather than working from behind the counter, an open floorplan allows bartenders to interact with customers at their tables and mix drinks before their eyes. The New York-based beverage consultants the Tippling Bros. have dreamed up a cocktail list featuring recipes such as Down South (Averna Sambuca Liquirizia with strawberries, guava, lemon and champagne) and Kissyomama (Cazadores Reposado tequila, mango, Thai basil, ginger liqueur and habanero sauce). A New York design firm (sense a theme here?) crafted the interior, set with worn leather booths and antique mirrors serving as tables.
