I have tried both the location in Andersonville and the one in Munster, IN. Both visits were catastrophic! Terrible service, cold food, and old timey decorating.... Awful!

For such a great location, you would think the would've decorated a little better. It's like dinig at disney world.
the service was pitiful.
the drinks and food were the only things that kept us there. they need to figure somethings out before serving guests.

We went to the one on Webster for drinks... it's okay, but kind of your typical bar. The patio is spacious but needs more character. Our waiter was friendly and chatted with us for a little, which was nice. I'd probably only go back if my friends wanted to.

Charlie's is great! We love the bloody mary bar on Saturdays and we love Shamus as our server! We always have a good time there.

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the city. My boyfriend and I come here all the time for dinner and drinks. The bar area is so much fun, and we always sit right by the windows so we can "people-watch" in the neighborhood. We always have good service, and the martinis are fabulous! This is a great place to take out-of-towners for a good time.

Andersonville: It frequently takes more than twenty minutes for a server to make contact with a table. Even just to say 'hi' and offer water. Doesn't matter if it's crowded or not! As if the hosts and servers habitually misscommunicate. Unfortunate because overall it's a nice place but the consistently poor service is very aggravating. There are plenty of competitors on the same street so you'd think they would get a grip on their problem to keep people coming back.

We just moved up to Andersonville from the south loop and discovered that Charlie's Ale House had a location in the neighborhood. We had the tuna salad and crab cake. Both were great tasting and an excellent value. More than enough food for two. Pleasant and efficient staff. Will give this place four stars.
