I agree that the service here is usually pretty poor. I think the servers are overworked or have too many tables. And it's loud. But I like it for a neighborhood place and they have some great dishes. The mac & cheese is good. But lately I'm completely addicted to the southern-fried chicken (two boneless breasts with a super scrumptious breading on them, with mashed potatoes, gravy and cole slaw). I find myself craving it every few weeks, it's that good.

I should've chosen another place to eat last night based on the reviews here...but I've been to this location twice and it was pretty good. I think I'll stick to bar food and drinks in the future- we had slow service, asked for bread three times and it was cold and hard when it arrived (when almost done with my meal) and the server didn't seem to care much about anything. The restaurant is really loud, too, which didn't bother us so much, but a point to make. Not worth the $40 tab.

We go to Charlie's a lot because it is close and the Hopleaf is always too crowded. That is the best I can say about Charlie's. The service is usually pretty bad, the food is just ok, and it is really noisy. It is just darned convenient (we live a few blocks away) so we go there regularly. I like the Edgewater Lounge food better. They don't have much service but at least they don't pretend to. However, the Edgewater is more of a dive so some our friends like Charlie's better. You decide.

The place is GREAT... the food & feel makes me wnat to return. Divided by a glass wall into a BAR and a sit down restuarant-- it is the best of both! The bar has a great feel!! The restaruant has a fireplace plus great booths. Can't wait till my next visit!!!

I'm new to the neighborhood and decided to try Charlies for the first time. I've gotta say I Love this place! The service was legendary. The food portions could've been bigger for the price I paid. An over-all good experience. I think I found my spot in Andersonville :)

I was at the bar today and was greeted by a very friendly bartender. I was on a mission to find a new and interesting drink. She was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and helped me find exactly what I wanted. The eggs benedict wasn't bad, either. My partner and I will definitely return.
