Pleasently Suprised

Not a whole lot of swanky places at Clybourn and State and my group wanted a break from a bunch of drunk frat guys singing along to 70's cheesy disco. Fortunately Bella is a welcomed oasis in an area dominated by lame sports pubs.

The food was great and our bartender Billy kept the drinks and humor flowing all night. Music was hot and the dance floor was packed.

We've gone back again and each time have not been disappointed, every Saturday Bella is the place to go. Its a great place to start or end your night out.

Worst Service Ever!

Our experience started off with the hostess seating us in the empty restaurant. The hostess then became our server. Drinks didn't come for 10 min after we ordered, and we were the only two people in the restaurant. Hostess/server took our order but didn't know anything about the menu which resulted in her running back to the kitchen 3 times during the ordering process. No one cleared our plates, filled our waters or even asked us how our food was. I had to go up to the bar where the hostess/waitress was flirting with the bartender to ask her for our bill. Terrible service, mediocre food, a headache from booming techno music, and $100 later, our dinner was complete. If this sounds like a nice friday evening for you, definitely hit this place up.

I searched for more than an hour online to find a nice spot to take my boyfriend to for his birthday dinner. I made Bella Lounge reservations on Open Table and hoped for the best. When I got there, no one was there to greet us. Then, the person who came up basically wanted to put us in the bar area without even giving us an option for a more private dinner. I insisted that we wanted a booth or table in the dining area. The food was mediocre at best. All of the things that had been listed on the site I got my information on was out of date including the menu. Also, the daily specials such as half-price martinis and appetizers on Mondays are a thing of the past. Even with a very limited menu, the food was not good and they were out of almost half of the items they had on the menu. This ended up being a big waste of my money and did not create the atmosphere I wanted at all! The decor is nice and the music that was played was good; that's about the nicest compliments I can give this place. Other than that, don't believe the hype.

My work colleges and I visited Bella last week for their after work. What a great deal. Had martinis and snacked off their buffet. Can't beat paying $20 for 3 hours of drinks and food after a long day at work! Thanks Bella!!

I planned a private event there for Saturday. It was the worst service. The waitress for the VIP area took FOREVER. Literally we would wait for 20 minutes never see her and had to hunt her down. I had to ask for everything that I had previously discussed with the staff before hand. No one had a clue what was going on. It made the night stressful for me and my guests. Take my advice and skip this place.

Overall HORRIBLE! We started at the bar, the bartender took a good 10 minutes to realize we were even there and got bypassed for her friends before she even said hi to us. It took another 5 minutes for drinks. We decided to get appetizers and when the food came there were no silverware to be found and the food was below mediocre. We decided to move to a table and instead of being able to just transfer our tab we had to close out. The bartender was rude and we heard the unneccessary comment of how we didn't even tip 20%. The server was clumsy, the food came out slower and even lacked more quality. There wasn't even quantity to make up for it either. The manager came into the conversation with our server about how unsatisfied we were and all we got was a what would we like to be done. We would have liked to have not come in at all. Was that the response they were looking for?

This is quite possibly the worst bar in the greater Chicago-land area. The customer service was absolutely horrible and the management is incredibly pretentious. I would bypass this venue if you are looking for a friendly, customer-oriented, high-class bar.
