The former Lobby Court bar inside the Renaissance Hotel has closed for remodeling and will relaunch as Bar Novo. Expect soft-opening trials as soon as Sept. 17 and a grand opening in mid-October.
The space has been completely gutted and retooled with a long L-shaped bar facing windows looking out on to State Street. Tables and lounge furniture surrounds a chef's station in the center of the bar, where guests can watch staff cook up snacks such as shaved prime rib nachos and a mini-Cuban sandwich garnished with a Coronita. The cocktail list offers innovative sips such as the Botanical Mule (vodka, ginger liqueur, vanilla, lime and ginger beer) and the Cazadores Shrub (tequila, acai liqueur, rosemary and lime). Looking for a nightcap or sweet treat after dinner? Order a bottle of bubbly and fun-to-share desserts such as s'mores fondue or vanilla creme brulee with peach compote and shortbread cookies.
