The owners behind Level have launched this rock music-themed basement lounge in the former Katacombs address. iPods loaded up with 23,000 songs--from '70s rock to alt rock, from the Stones to Green Day--do the job in lieu of a DJ. And as for the drinks, don't expect a prissy specialty cocktail list here. Cheap specials on beer bottles and cans, and frozen glasses stand by for ice-cold whiskey and Jagermeister shots. The rock theme pervades every inch of the space, from the lime green faux-snakeskin bar stools to the walls plastered with lyrics and murals of rock greats from the Sex Pistols to Aerosmith. Hollowed-out amps masquerade as bottle shelves, while drums serve as cocktail tables next to black leather couches. Even the cover charge stand looks like a ticket booth.
