This eatery, housed in a four-story River North greystone, offers traditional tapas and entrees including a veal chop "painted" with sherry and balsamic vinegar and served with an artichoke tortilla (the quiche-like Spanish version, not the Mexican variety) and "Paella 1492"--stocked with chicken, shrimp, mussels and calamari, it's sized for one and served in a miniature paella pan. Specialty drinks include two cavas (Spanish bubbly) by the glass and sangria--the traditional red variety made with Spanish Rioja out of the bottle in addition to various flavors. Downstairs, the 1492 Cava Lounge, opens on weekends or to accomodate an overflow of the cocktailing crowd.
