This place had amazing sushi and sake. We sat in the upstairs lounge where it was romantic and fun. The server was great and gave us great recommendations. The music was a little off, but I am not sure what type of music you would play in that area. Definitely a great spot and highly recommendable.

I've been to this place a lot and nothing changes...
Food: AMAZING! Great menu choices...I recommend the special maki rolls (haba berry)
Ambiance: My waiter/waitresses are always the most intellectual, knowledgeable people...And authentic Japanese!
Service: VERY professional, everything always comes out at the perfect time.
Value: Some things are a little pricey, but well worth it!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I can't believe people complain about sushi prices in the Gold Coast! The sushi here is so yummy and fresh. My husband and I are from LA and we think Tsunami is Chicago's best. Not cheapest, not the quickest, but the best!

Service is bad and food doesn't worth what you pay. Over priced! I've never go back again.

As a hotel concierge, it is hard to impress me but I thought the atmosphere, service and food were outstanding. Much better than Japonais, and more reaasonable.
We sat upstairs on a thursday night, and our server(brenna?) was excellent.
Hightly recommend

Went there on a date...just average rolls with below average service. I had indicated that I had never been to the restaurant, where my date had not. They brought just me an amuse-bouche and left my date in the dust! The waitress said that it was only for first-time customers and "VIPs". VIPs? It doesn't look like this place sees much action that would necessitate a VIP club. The service was poor when we asked for a sake recommendation--a lot of attitude for a washed-up sushi place!

I was expecting to love this place. The sushi was plain, the service was ok, and the prices HIGH. It's very overpriced for sushi and our waiter was really pushy. Would rather go to Kamehachi for less any day.

I have been to a lot of sushi places in the city and have been wanting to go to Tsunami for quite some time now. However, this was the most underwhelming dining experience ever. The service was slow - in fact, our hostess had to get us our drinks because the waiter wasn't around and it wasn't even that crowded. The food was scarce and not good! When my friend and I got the bill we couldn't believe how much we were paying for the quantity and quality of food. I will never go back.
