Lucrezia, a tiny gem located about two miles from the Indiana Dunes, is a popular stopover for Chicagoans on their way to summer homes. Located in a 100-year-old house, this tiny trattoria serves northern Italian cuisine, with occasional Mediterranean dishes cropping up as specials. Popular menu items include stuffed eggplant, sliced and wrapped around prosciutto and mozzarella; roasted lamb shank; and chicken vesuvio. Another big draw in warmer months is the outdoor patio, which seats 50. Lucrezia doesn't take reservations, but take advantage of the opportunity to hang out in what has to be northwest Indiana's only martini bar.
