I almost dont want to review this night here because I'm trying so hard to forget it. I should of known to walk out when I was called stupid by a waitress for accidently getting in her way. Thank god she was not waiting on us. I did witness one more temper tantrum between her and our waitress, during my 2 hour and 10 minute wait for spinach ravioli (cant comment on the meatball i ordered TWICE) they never brought it out. I don't care how busy a place is, you can't yell at customers ladies!! Especially in this economy. Go to Bruna's, unless you are looking for italian with an ed debevic's atmosphere.

What a disappointment! The bread was hard as a rock, the food cold and or old. Our meals weren't even brought out at together. The first person receiving their food was done before the last meal was brought out. Never again!

Everyone who lives in or visits Chicago should take the time to see this small neighborhood. It's a gem that could disappear overnight given the speed at which the area is developing. It's clear that La Fontanella hasn't changed a bit in the last fifty years ( and neither have the prices). The Chicago that our families knew as Al Capone's city is still alive and well at La Fontanella. The food and the atmosphere is absolutely phenomenal. There is no doubt about it. You are guaranteed to be shocked by the quality of the entrees. Your going to wish you could kiss me on the lips when you're done eating there. Don't even think about, just drive down and you're going to think you died and went to Italian heaven.
Report This ReviewI ate here on a Thursday evening with two women friends. We were the only guests until two others arrived. We made the mistake of ordering veal. The veal parmesaen was overcooked, tough, barely edible. The veal piccata and marsala were tough and lacked flavor. They were out of the wine we ordered. The best part of the meal was the sides of spaghetti. It also was an expensive meal. A HUGE disappointment.
Report This ReviewThe service could not have been any better. Went there with friends and family and had a great time. Casual and comfortable, expect great service and great food. Try the eggplant!
Report This ReviewThe food is wonderful, not to mention our handsome & classy waiter Marty!!!!! He made us feel so welcome and treated us like family. The food was awesome too. My mom and I will be returning for more of Marty's charm. Every restaurant around Chicago should have fantastic service like Marty offers. He's definately one of a kind. The Bartender Dean was adorable too! What a personality on him. He makes great Stingers, and serves them with a big smile as Marty does when he serves up the best food around. Ladies...... If you want to be pampered on 'Girls Nite Out' these perfect gentelman will take care of you.
Report This ReviewFranco & Maria allowed our private party of 25 to enjoy an evening our guests are still marveling over. Sophisticated folks from both coasts were bowled over by the TLC of Marty and Sue and the fabulous food which just kept coming and coming.
