My best friend and I were shopping downtown last weekend and decided to have dinner at Harry Caray's, we didn't have a reservation so we were expecting to wait a while and be turned away like some other restaurants that I have been to. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by two very nice hostess and a manager who told us it would be a short wait but would be happy to get us in. Our server was named Mike, he knew what he was talking about with the steaks and made some excellent recommendations. I had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection and my friend had the Chicken Vesuvio, which she enjoyed as well. Overall my experince was awesome, I will definatly be returning soon.

My family and I visited Harry Caray's and couldn't have had a better experience. We were seated within minutes of our reservation. The wine list was fantastic - we went with a cabernt. Our server was knowledgable and made great suggestions. I went with the filet which was perfectly seasoned. I asked for medium rare and that is exactly what I got. Our party shared the sauteed spinach with garlic and olive oil and the mashed potatoes - both were excellent. My uncle tried the Surf and Turf. The lobster tail was cooked to perfection. Overall it was an experience that was WELL above average and will return!

OVERRATED! Thought this was going to be wonderful but it was merely average.

Service was decent and we got a table immediately on a Saturday night without a reservation. Appetizer of calamari was above average, wedge salad was the norm but the main course was average or below. I had heard what a fantastic steak was served here but that is all hype. The large filet was not ony an average cut as far as quality but was not very flavorful at all. The horseradish crust was mushy and bland. The garlic mashed were a poor attempt at an easy dish. Not to mention the plate with the "hot" entree was room temperature. Not at all what I expected and will not return even for free. The price is rather outrageous considering it is an average restaurant across the board. Wildfire blows this place out of the water in all facets.

We went here a while ago for lunch, and possibly check out their private rooms for our wedding. Wow, the food was phenomenal. The bruschetta was the best I've ever had. And everyone was so NICE! Also, for the area, it's not expensive at all. The lunch menu is very affordable.

Disappointed

Recently went to Harry Cary's after telling a friend it was a great steak place. We were seated outside because it was a nice night. The service was terrible! We waited 15 minutes just for anyone to come over to take our drink order. We ordered our drinks and dinner. We both order the filet mignon to be done medium. We waited another 20 minutes just to get our drinks. We received our dinner before we even got our drinks from the bar!!! When we cut our steaks, they were not cooked at the proper temperature, they had been extremely overcooked, almost to well done, not medium like we ordered. When we complained to our server, the manager came over and basically told us that we were wrong and our steaks were almost medium rare. I was surprised since this is such a well known place. I don't think i will be returning to Harry Cary''s and would not recommend it to anyone.

Great place for lunch or for out-of-town visitors

Have lunch at Harry Caray often as it is close to office. Was there on August 29. The food is wholesome and well-prepared with good seasonings, fresh ingredients and too plentiful portions. Ok, maybe this is a guys' place or at least many of the diners I see are guys. Families are also plentiful. Italian entrees are popular. I always check on the specials. The seating and service are always quick and attentive.

Colin is a great waiter. Ask for him if he's around. He's very knowledgeable about popular new wines the restaurant serves. It's a fun place to take out-of-towners. All the sports memorabilia and the Frank Nitti connection with Al Capone (the building)provides entertaining local history. A great place to go if you're headed to one of the games or just back.

I really don't think you can go wrong. The O'Hare restaurant is very similar and one of the few mid-ranged, popularly-priced, good food fares in that neighborhood. Others are either pricey or pedestrian.

I recommond Harry Caray's as a place to eat when you're in the neighborhood. Can't believe no one has reviewed it yet. Suppose it's the new Metromix format.
