The Drum & Monkey

Neighborhood: Little Italy/University Village
1435 W. Taylor St.

Chicago, IL 60607

Inside: The Drum & Monkey (formerly The Four Corners)
The Four Corners changed it's name to the Drum & Monkey at the end of 2006, but everything else remains the same; co-owner Dominic O'Mahony tells us the new moniker comes from a popular Glasgow pub.

Located in the heart of the pasta-slinging Little Italy strip, this spot's an alternative to meatballs and marinara for locals and UIC students. This spin-off of Garrett Ripley's features the same menu of Irish faves like fish and chips and shepherd's pie, plus above-average pub grub like a chicken and Brie sandwich. The space features a 1940s tin ceiling, Tiffany-inspired lighting and impressionist photos of global landmarks, and be sure to check out the mod-ish Belgian-made beer towers (The owners claim they're the first in Chicago to install them). You'll find your standard pub imports (Bass, Harp, Guinness) and Euro brews, but there are also plenty of American faves.
