The Celtic Knot Public House

626 Church St.

Evanston, IL 60201
847-864-1679
This Irish pub and eatery occupies a warm space with a woody bar area, cherry-colored walls and smatterings of Celtic artifacts. Menu highlights include a beefy shepherd's pie topped with duchess potatoes, a Guinness beef tenderloin-and-mushroom pastry, fish and chips, and Boston corned beef and cabbage. Not-so-Irish fare includes the smoked salmon in parsley cream over pasta and a honey-glazed pork chop with vegetable hash. The bar pours a proper Guinness, served at cellar temperature (warmer than the other tap beers). The only time they bring out the TVs is for European soccer games.
