Excellent local selections/Great juke/Cool crowd

Apart from a great juke, a real dartboard and good pool, the Poitin Stil offers an impressive selection of quality brews and booze. Who expects to find Flossmoor Station (on tap and in bottle) and Death's Door spirits at a Rogers Park watering hole? Relaxed vibe and eclectic mix of artists and neighborhood people; good grazing nearby, as well. Across the street from the Side Project in a quiet and unexpectedly cosmopolitan area of Jarvis Avenue.

I love this place! Relaxed, fun and unpretentious, it's got a great mix of people. They have karaoke the first Saturday of the month, which is a blast. The first business to revitalize the neighborhood, it's next to a wine shop, fantastic Italian restaurant and the side project theatre. Just across the street from the el stop at Jarvis, it's worth the trip to Rogers Park. Who would have thought Jarvis and Greenview would turn into such a hot spot!

A pet peeve of mine is being asked what I want before I sit down or get my coat off. They were out of the wine I'd asked for, didn't have limes to go in the drink I'd requested and to top it off, the total bill was what I'd expect to pay downtown. $12.50 for a bottle of domestic beer and a vodka?? This place is in walking distance but, I'll get in my car and go someplace else.

Great neighborhood bar! We need more places like this in Rogers Park-- a great mix of people, reasonable drink prices and an awesome jukebox. Only three suggestions for them:
1. Tone down the lighting a bit (its always too bright in there)
2. Get rid of the "cheater" shot glasses. They don't give patrons an honest shot of booze with those glasses
3. Start taking credit cards.

If they took care of those things I'd be in there every night of the week!

The Stil has an incredible charm due to the variety of great people who have made this their neighborhood hang. On any given night, you can count on a great conversation (ranging from 'da Bears to 19th c. Russian literature) over your pick of great import drafts (Franziskaner, Radeberger, Stella, big half-litre Hoegaardens, Guinness of course) and quality Irish whiskeys including Midletons, Black Bush, and the ever-popular Jameson. *beware the Irish Car Bombs - no one can have just one* The vibe picks up on Friday and Saturday nights, drawing on the energetic and young spirited locals, fueled by a music selection reflective of the variety of cultural backgrounds. See you there!

I've been a regular at the bar for quite some time now, and I cant say enough about the place. Its clean - homy - and the people are wonderful. A great place to go if you are interested in testing your skills on the pool table - as the skill level of players at the bar is impressive. Well - hope to see you there
