Horrible Delivery!
By HighendXserver from Old Irving, May 3, 2009

Overall rating:

20 mins after the est delivery time I get a call saying they got too busy and were delivering it now. Then I had to wait an additional 30 mins. Almost 2 hours for food?
Food came warm to cold. Veggie wrap was good. The fries were good, but cold. The wings were good. The potato skins were a bit bland, but it's skins what can you really do? The rib eye sandwich came LOADED with onions, grilled and raw, it was unnecessary. But the sandwich itself wasn't anything special.
Not to mention I had paid Via credit card with a $10 tip on a $30 bill! That's a 33% tip, most servers at bars would kill for that kind of tip on a small check, none the less a delivery driver. This place seems to take delivery guest for granted. Maybe they are better when you dine in? Too bad we'll never know because we are not going to give this place a second chance.

Pretty good food, HORRIBLE service
By LilacAmy11 from Uptown, March 22, 2009

Went to Paddy O'Splaine's tonight with some friends. Our service was ridiculous. When we were seated, the hostess set four menus down on the table, and a server promptly grabbed one to give to another table without an apology or bringing us another one! Then our server came over soon after we were seated and took our drink order (a bucket of domestic beer). After 20 minutes someone from our party went up to the bar to get the beer himself... it had just been sitting there. Finally, 25 minutes after we were seated, our waitress came back and took our food order (Let me emphasize that she wasn't attending to other tables during this time. No, she spent the entire time talking to other servers, and standing by the computer looking baffled). Another 20 minutes passed before we got our appetizer. Then another 15 minutes passed before we got our entrees (two salads and two cold sandwiches.... so it took over 30 minutes to get our food, none of which was even cooked).

Great!

When the restaurant first opened my friend and I were thrilled to have a place to go to in the neighborhood. The service was great and the food was excellent!
I know this place had some start-up blues...what place doesn't? Since they have found a crew that fits the personally of the business, it has grown and improved tremendously!
I have gone to 5 star restaurants, while entertaining clients and had a terrible experience. Returning to the same restaurant the following week and enjoyed myself. So even the best have failed one time or another.
Give this place a chance and I am sure you won't be disappointed and if you are, Well, what can I say,"It was your turn to have a bad experience".
Enjoy!

Terrible

When you get tater tots for french fries, a veggie pattie instead of roasted vegetables over an hour after you order, you know this place will never be visited again. My boyfriend and I went on Saint Patrick's Day and, although the place was not too full, the two-piece cover band was way too loud. Never, ever again.

Laughable

Our server forgot our appetizer and when he showed up with our entrees, we asked what happened and he replied "Oh, I forgot to put it in" and simply walked away. Well, when the manager waltzed over table to table and asked how our night was, we said that it was sub par. The manager proceeded to chew out the waiter in view of customers, and gave us our appetizer to go for free and then had to personally take care of getting our drinks that we had been waiting for. Mean while the the sous chef is storming around the place.
I had a good piece of salmon with a very strange sauce, but it was alright. My better half had a steak that was very tasty and had so many pomme frittes on it that we laughed at the fact we thought they were covering something up. Go to this place for a good drink at the bar and some snacks, but don't expect much more.

Nice place, good food

We really enjoy the atmosphere and food. This place has really changed and evolved since the doors first opened. If you haven't been in a while, definitely go back and enjoy! PLUS GREAT SPECIALS. Half price pizza Tuesday and fish fry on Friday are two of the best. Good drink and lunch specials too.

A Surprising "Irish" Gem
By abernathy from northcenter, January 9, 2009

This place is different from your run-of-the-mill Irish pubs/grills because the food is EXCELLENT! We were so pleasantly surprised by the quality, variety, and price of the menu items. We loved the sirloin sandwich, the veggie burger wrap, & the mac & cheese. The servers, bartender, & manager (Jeff?) couldn't have been friendlier (and we had 3 kids under the age of 6 with us). This will be our new, favorite "go to" spot.

Always a nice place for good food

We have always had a great time coming here. Food has always been very good. Staff is always great, friendly, very accomodating. Beer selection is very nice. The atmosphere is wodnerful. Beautiful woodwork. A lot of TV's to watch whatever games are on. It is a large place which is nice, never super crowded, but still has a welcoming feeling. Definetly a palce to check out.

Honestly, the only place I'll go!
By littleB from Lincoln Square, October 2, 2008

I'm not a big fan of clubs, crowded bars, etc. Paddy O'Splaines is absolutely the exception! Whether it is crowded or not, the staff members are FABULOUS! There is not a single person working there that hasn't made an effort to get to know me and the friends I bring in. In regard to the food, there are things that I will eat at Paddy's that I HATE in general (i.e. the best onion rings I've ever had!). The bar/restaurant itself is beautiful and very comfortable to be in, but it's really the friendliness (and, in some cases, attractiveness) of the people that make this my favorite spot. Definitely worth a visit!

Y'all come back now, ya hear!

I really enjoy Paddy O's in my neighborhood. I've gone at least once a week since they have opened. Despite some early miscues, they continue to improve. The drink and food specials during the week mean you can enjoy watching a game, get your drink on and eat for around $20. On the rare occasion they get a food or drink order wrong, they have fixed it. Tell your server, don't tell the Internet. You're the only one who loses then. If Paddy O's made any mistake, it was opening before everything was in place because the finished product is very good and the staff is efficient.

On a recent visit during a football Sunday afternoon, the bar was near empty. The bartender asked us what football game we wanted to watch. We didn't really care so he put a different game on each of the 5 TVs over the bar! How cool is that? It was like a Vegas sports book! I suggest not reading the reviews since the early inexperienced serving and kitchen staff has been replaced by people who know hospitality! Stop in and you will be pleasantly surprised!
