Ususally I would not bother with writing a review, but I was searching the internet for different neighborhood bars and have run across such negative reiviews about OShaughnessys, which is a great place. First of all it is immaculate. You know if the bathroooms are clean, the kitchen is clean. The bartenders are great bartenders and the beer selection is diverse and changes slightly with the seasons. They have organized events like pub crawls and parties. FYI they do not charge for party room. The food is good and the value for what you get is great; sometimes it takes a while but it is all freshly cooked. They do have a black bean burger and hummus for non meatears. I do not see what the complaints are about, we love the place.
Report This ReviewWe went to O'Shaughnessy's on a Friday night. We had less than average service throughout the dinner. Our server brought us the check from the next table over instead of our own. When it was pointed out to him that the bill was wrong, he was very rude - even though we would have benefited from paying the wrong check since it was less than ours. After settling the dinner tab, we decided to stick around for a round of drinks. The waiter was less than enthused about starting a new tab for us - brought us one round and promptly forgot about us for the rest of the evening. We had to search him out to get the tab and he never did return to take our payment. We had to go inside to get the bartender to run the credit card payment for us. Overall, a very bad experience due to terrible service.
Report This ReviewMy wife and I live down the block and we were excited to have a Pub open in the neighborhood. However, this place has been disappointment after disappointment. The bartender always takes five minutes or more to recognize our existence, when we finally order our Guinness it is poured to the brim as quickly as possible and is 90% foam. In fact without exception the servers, bartenders and hosts seem to be annoyed by our very presence. The food is over-priced, there are no vegetatian options and the dessert is stale. If you want terrible service and food that arrives at least an hour after you order, this is the place for you!
Report This ReviewSo my group went to O'Shaughnessy's for some afternoon drinks. After 3 waitstaff changes in less than 2 hours and a bill approaching 200 dollars, we questioned whether our final waiter had added an additional round of drinks. He got really angry and actually started yelling at us. I was shocked. When we asked to talk with the manager he told us to 'leave and never come back.'
Report This Reviewwe went just last weekend for the 1st time (12/20/08), cute place, but we had a waiter that not only couldnt care less about us or our order, he also didnt care about his job. im trying not to swear here for fear of my review being pulled, but i think our bus-boy worked harder then him! besides seeing the joke of a chef out @ one point w/ a chef shirt on (must of got @ wal-mart?) the food was medicore @ best! our soup was served right before our appetizer, then the food , id say about 2 minutes after the appetizer! we wernt even close to being done w/ either the soup or appetizer! my shepards pie tasted like a sloppy joe, and w/ only a few drinks each (of a party of four) we could of gotten a seafood dinner plus drinks @ a class a resturant like raw bar! o'shaughnessy's: great place to go for drinks maybe? would never order the food again! get a better staff, places dont last long in this neighborhood if you suck!
Report This ReviewThe woodwork and stain glass windows throughout the nostalgic pub brings home the eminence of Ireland. No expense was spared in the design and authenticity. This is one of the cleanest bars you will ever walk into.
The food is great for any meal and I heard they are rolling out new additions...good eats fair prices. I had the steak sandwich...awesome I was told its marinated the day before.
I walk to the pub after work, Great crowd with a mix of all people business and artsy.
The Guiness on Wednesday is $4. The barman explained the discipline for cleaning the "lines" for the sweet Irish perfume from the Keg to the tap. Respect.
I just came back from a 10 day trip in Ireland, This is the best Pint of Guiness you'll find in Chicago.
Report This ReviewI thoroughly enjoyed my Wednesday evening at O'shaughnessy's, I had the Turkey pot pie, with a nice salad and a glass of their house Chardonnay. to my surpise they have live irish music every Wednesday! What a great way to break up the week... I have been telling everybody at work about O'shaughnessy's. I will definetly be back, with friends and family!
Report This ReviewLiving in the neighborhood, I've been to O'Shaughnessy's more than once, but I will probably not come back until some changes have been made. While the bartenders know how to pour a good Guinness, their appetizers and meals are lacking in taste and quality. Hopefully, they will update their food menu.

Report This ReviewMy wife & I were there last Wed night. The service was perfect, our appetizer great, our entrees delicious. My wife enjoyed her glass of wine, my two pints of Guinness went down easy. The bonus which made the evening very special indeed was some fine lads providing foot tapping traditional Irish music.
We'lll be back!
