Irish? What Irish?

I was excited to visit this place. The decor is beautiful. The food, on the other hand was not. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich which was sweet enough to be a dessert and without a hint of the alleged Guinness, the beer selection was disappointing and the burger my friend had was, in his words "average". Unfortunately the service was equally disappointing - won't be returning any time soon.

This is a great new addition to Ravenswood. The decor is nice, the food is basic pub fare with a twist, and actually quite good. What they need is to have some front-of-the house management. Nobody greets you at the door or lets you know that you can seat yourself. Our waiter handed out menus, did not take a drink order and never returned for 15 minutes. Drinks were ordered and received, appetizer and entree orders were taken and all seemed right. Unfortunately, appetizers arrived and it took another short while to find our waiter to get plates, flatware, and napkins; by the time we were given something to eat with the entrée was already arriving. I think this could be a regular stop if they ever fix their service.

Disappointing

I went there for the first time on a Friday night with friends and a child. They managers were very nice, but our waiter was very unenthused. The food was OK, although the caesar salad was too heavy on the dressing and the BLT had way too much mayo. I was suprised by how loud the place was, and would think again before taking young ones there.

The place needs some work on service and refinement of the food, but I am willing to give it another try.

Disappointing. Again and again. My wife and I where SO excited about an Irish pub in the area. However, it was a complete failure each time. All times the service was terrible with miserable servers that don't want to be there. It may make for a real feel Irish pub in Ireland, but we are in the U.S. and while we like to have a feel of the Irish pub, Americans expect service. This is where there is a lost in translation problem. Service with a smile would be nice. We went on the weekdays during rush hour, weekdays after rush hour, and on the weekend in the evening. The food was bland - more Feed than food. The Fish and chips is pathetic and the potato pancakes is not worth $9. And how can you be an Irish Pub in the states without having Shepard's Pie on the Menu. Please stay away from this place until they get quality friendly servers and revamp their menu. Since this place is new, a few key changes will make the experience much better. With changes it could be a new neighborhood favorite.

Good Addition To The 'Hood

Along with other residents of the neighborhood, I spent the last few months watching the ol' standby Zephyr morph into a very nice looking Irish Pub. I was there last night for the first time and was able to enjoy the sidewalk seating. Everyone---other customers and wait staff was very friendly. The beer selection was adequate and for some reason the Bass we ordered was fantastic--maybe it's the new beer lines? The food (soup, Fish and Chips, Shepherd's Pie) was good and I expect the quality and range will improve given some more time. I think the best thing about this place is the beautifully done interiors. The bar area was very nice and fairly crowded for a Monday night. The flatscreen TVs were well positioned and did not overwhelm the room and the woodwork is fantastic. This will be a fun place to get some food and watch a Cubs game over the summer and I suspect it will be a great place to trudge to in the winter to enjoy a Guinness and hot soup by the fireplace.

Mean Servers

I was so excited for this to open up and was SO disappointed by their rude employees. I won't go into the details of how many examples of how terrible they were. I don't know WHY this place is so busy. Does no one else notice how rude and mean these people are?? There menu is disappointing to.

i was totally impressed with the zephyr re-do & very excited to have nice bar to go to between the rail & nick's. yeah, gotta agree with previous posts that the beer was a tad sad & the service was iffy. plus the fish & chips was seriously lacking in the fish quantity & the curry sauce was WAY too sweet. but i have hope things will get better!

Not a real Irish Pub

7 light beers at an Irish Pub....give me a break. There were only two Irish brews on the beer list. What's Irish about that? To add insult, the menu is small and no corned beef, no reuben, no shepherd's pie, no bangers and mash...what kind of pub is this again?

My date and I ordered the fish n chips and a salad. The two fish sticks and 10 fries...where's the beef? The salad looked like a bunch of weeds pulled from down the street. On top of that it was served on a platter, dressing on the side so there was no way to "Toss" the salad.

Service was slow, food was bad, why go back?

Nice Bar - Poor Service and Bad food

We went to this bar for the first time - the bar is very nice inside, but I think they need to work out the kinks - our server was terrible - he forgot to place an order for our table and then overcharged us - we told him the pita that was served with the spinach dip we ordered was rock hard and was told that's how it's suppose to be. The spinach dip was pathetic to begin with - none of the food we ordered was good. I am not rushing back to this place.
