great location, great music, great food!!!
half off appetizers on mondays!
A freind and I stopped in at Mystic Celt for an impromptu lunch this past Sunday after becoming famished during a Southport shopping spree. The hostess was not super friendly but showed us to a cute little table on their patio nestled among blooming window boxes and huge umbrellas covering the outdoor tables. The patio was great for our afternoon lunch but would undoubtedly be a great spot for dinner, happy hour or brunch as well. While our hostess lacked personality and/or charm, our waitress could not have been more accomodating. She was quick to offer suggestions on the menu and put our orders in right away. She returned often to fill our drinks and make sure everything was running smoothly and that we were happy. The food was reasonably priced, great tasting, and just what we had been craving. Luckily we ordered some of the most devine onion rings I have ever tasted in my life. Thick, battery, and nice and crispy, I have been craving them ever since we left. If you like onion rings go and order some right away. I would definitley go back to this place for dinner, drinks, or brunch, which is served until 3 pm, buffet style on Sundays and Saturdays. Give this place a try! I highly recommend it.
Report This Revieweven though it's gotten better from the opening a few years ago, that's not saying much as the service was non-existent for the first couple years. foods not bad if you can get it warm/hot. good service at bar "except" if you order food. bartenders apparently required to continuously go in back and check on your food, and, well, they'd rather sell drinks and make tips, understandable, so your food almost always is cold at the bar.
Overall improvement from a few years ago from a one star to a two star. They seem to have wiped out Justin's though.
Mystic Celt is a great, comfortable bar with a wide range of delicious food, a great atmosphere, good deals and a cute and friendly staff. I am surprised by the other reviews I have seen which is why I am writing to correct them. This bar is a great scene and every time I have gone I have enjoyed myself. The waitresses are quick and friendly and always give their best, even when it's busy. They remember my drink order and have great suggestions for food or drink. The food is delicious. I recommend the Celt Burger on a pretzel roll. Yum! Go there for service and experience that is worth more than the price.
Report This ReviewIt's a real shame about mystic celt, the food really is pretty good, and quite reasonable but the service is a joke. On a slow thursday afternoon our waitress seated us and took our drink order and returned within 30 seconds with the drinks and waited for our order when we said we needed a minute we were then left waiting for at least 15 minutes while the waitress went to eat her lunch. i know this is what she was doing because she was still chewing when she came back and had food on the side of her mouth, which was not that pleasant. the order got messed up and bits and pieces of it arrived seemingly at random. it was however very tasty. i will probably go back, but i'll sit at the bar where i know i won't be ignored.
Report This ReviewNot a huge fan of this place, I've never gotten a good drink there. Food is not bad, great atmosphere, service is not the greatest either. There's a number of much better bars right there on Southport
Report This ReviewI dont get the bad reviews, because I go there pretty often, and have never had a bad experience. The Sunday brunch is awesome with a huge selection, and only $10. I've never had a problem with the food. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but nothing memorable. There are always plenty of places to sit, the crowd is mixed and, and the back part is non-smoking which is nice for us non-smokers.
Report This ReviewWhat?? This is place is high on my list of Chicago's best bars. I've known it for 2 years, and can't say it wasn't a factor in moving in to Lakeview... It's laid back and lively just at the right mix.
Report This ReviewI also live in the neighborhood and was seriously dissapointed. We went with friends to eat and drink and it was so loud we couldn't even hear the server describe any of the specials. We could barely order because of the noise. The server never came back to refill drinks and our food was wrong 3 times. We walked out.
Report This ReviewI live in the neighborhood and was incredibly happy to see this place open. However, every time I have gone there, with or without friends and family, I wish I had picked another place. The service is always horrible and the waitstaff never seem to want to make things right. Food orders either show up cold and late and/or wrong. One time the host started yelling at a waitress after she had seated us. Customer service means a lot to me and this place is seriously lacking it. I will hope that something else better opens up either down the block or in its place.
