Living close by, there's nothing better than not having to travel far to meet friends for a casual drink. Moher is great for doing just that and it's also a nice place to take my kids for lunch or dinner. It's the "Cheers" of the Northside - where everybody knows your name , where you walk in and know half the people there and everybody's happy to be there. It has a great, relaxed atmosphere and they also happen to have the BEST Curry Fries in the entire city!! Moher's burgers are fabulous as well, and their Bloodies even better! Service to some may seem slow, but it's just relaxed because most people who go there like to sit back, chill and stay for awhile!
Report This ReviewThis is certainly a cozy spot. The staff are pleasant. It's family friendly. And Edgebrook certainly needed a neighborhood bar.
Now for the bad news. The food here is atrocious. I've been here on three occasions with family and friends. I've tried several items : a tastless hamburger, soggy Fish and Chips, rubbery BLT. (My fellow diners felt the same, including one who tried the shepherd's pie).
There was a time when one didn't expect high culinary standards from Irish pubs and bars. Those days are gone. There are many Irish pubs in Chicago (just as in the old country) serving delicious bar food. Hopefully Moher can follow suit. This place has the potential to be a wonderful local pub.
my friends who live in the neighborhood had suggested we go there and boy did we have a terrible time. the beer prices are completely outrageous--$6 for a blue moon is expected in lincoln park but not a place like this--and the waitstaff is totally unfriendly.we went there on a saturday night a few weeks ago and it was dead so the kitchen had closed early (it wasn't even 10). our waitress ignored us after we ordered one round and spent the whole time gabbing with the other waitress and bartender. we finally had to ask the busboy to get her attention and she still continued talking for another 2 minutes. we didn't even bother with a second round. my advice: don't waste your time on this place. there's a million other irish bars in chicago that are much better.
Report This ReviewNot a bad place, but too expensive in my opinion. I was only ordering drinks at the bar and I couldn't believe the prices.
Report This ReviewExcellent location. I'm from the Edgebrook area and am delighted I can walk to Moher's for drinks and not have to worry about driving or parking. They also have live music weekend nights. The service was good and the food was too! I will be back.
Report This ReviewI love this place. The food is great, I can't get enough of the boxtys? The service from both the waitstaff and the bar staff has always been wonderful each and every time I've been in there. I'm so glad we finally have a great neighborhood pub like this in the neighborhood.
Report This ReviewMy wife and I came in for a quick bite and ended up staying for 3 1/2 hours. We ran into old friends and just had a great time. The food was good and the service was better. At no time did we feel presure to move or leave. Our waitress was great. She too was from the neighborhood. Moher is a real warm and friendly place where you can go to meet old friends and new ones too...maybe not on a Friday night as recommended by friends. Friday Fish Fry is Quite a night!
Report This ReviewWe intended stopping by to eat before going downtown. We never moved all day. It was great to see this place buzzing. Only complaint being it was too smokey and not enough chairs to sit on. Will be back next year !!
Report This ReviewWent there on friday night, place was busy and had a buzzing atmosphere. We found the food to be very tasty only comment being that it could have been a little hotter. Server was very friendly and attentive. would recommend this place to anyone.
Report This ReviewMy husband and I went for dinner, should have read the reviews first. It was so loud in there my ears were ringing for 3 hours after we left. The food is nothing to rave about and certainly not worth the money they charge for it. Many families in this place allowing their small children to scream and run all over the restaurant. I will go back to Moher when pigs fly.
