F. O'Mahony's
3701 N. Broadway - Chicago773-549-0226
I live in the area and have been in quite a few times starting since before they changed the name. Mahony's really is a nice bar with a really comfortable feel especially in winter. They have a pretty good draft selection and some decent scotch and bourbon too.
Although it's not exactly 'the place' to see sports the staff are always happy enough to switch over the tv's (they have like 5 of them) to whatever game it is you want and there's nothing like a good draft and some sports.
I agree with eatsoutalot's comment below me though that the management and kitchen need to do better, there always seems to be a few things that are out of stock, be it jack daniels (yes that's Jack Daniels regular old every bar needs some, bottle of Jack) or fries (who runs out of fries?).
The portions of the sides are an insult too. Eleven dollars for a cheeseburger is not really what i'd call reasonable especially when you consider that it came with a lousy twelve tots...especially when you consider that it took nearly half an hour,at six o'clock on a weeknight. Also, on the same note, the last thing i want to see when i'm about to take a bite out of my burger is the sweaty monster who just cooked it come out from the kitchen to go to the bar and to use a euphemism, fix his cup. Think about it, think about it... there you go. This completely grossed me out too.
I will go back but only because i live around around the way and i like the staff and the drink specials but they need to figure the grill part out of the tavern/grill puzzle.
The servers seem to be behind the eight-ball... We have given them several second chances, but waiting over an hour for scrambled eggs and a hamburger is just ludicrous. They started comping drinks because all of the tables were having these huge delays, but still - get your act together! Most of the restaurant was empty. I don't know what caused the delay on the food. The food was okay - the burger was done perfectly - but this is the umpteenth time we've had a 2+ hour dining experience at this empty pub!

Report This ReviewI stopped in last sunday after a busy morning with my wife and had the delicious new mimosa brunch special for twenty bucks. This place is great as the patio is dog friendly so we cud bring our pet with us. i had the hangover skillet which was delicious and our waitress was a great irish girl, who topped up our mimosas without us even asking!! This place has a lovely atmosphere and i love the fact they have genuine Irish and English working there!
Report This ReviewCan’t say enough good things about this little Wrigleyville restaurant.
Very cozy inside and a great patio that allows Dogs!!!
Had brunch there this weekend on the patio and the food was exceptional, server said the chef is new and came over from the kit cat lounge.
Very inexpensive and good service. If I had to complain about anything it’s the fact that there is a wait for the restroom on busy nights.
Love the trivia on Wednesdays and they have open mic night on Tuesdays.
Good place to meet girls on the weekends.
My friends and I visited FO recently and had a great time. This place is a cozy place to have some great beers and awesome food. Its a welcome departure from the usual lakeview watering hole.
Report This Reviewthis place has really gone down hill. i used to love going there for the tots and guiness stew when they had their first chef, but now the food is terrible- we got the buffalettes( i couldnt even see them on the plate they were so tiny) and the french onion soup (which came out cold three times before the waitress took it off our bill) . Good selection of beers on tap, but not worth going there for. the rest of the drinks are very over priced- adding ice to our scotch is a dollar more. service is decent . the "manager"( i think it was her although she was in sweat pants) needs to learn people skills before getting into the service industry. i live right by there but i think ill walk to extra three blocks to get a drink from now on.
Report This ReviewLove this place! The food is good and great place to go for some drinks. Service is sometimes slow, but you can't expect much more from a bar.
Report This ReviewWe are always in the area and have walked by Finley Mahony's many times but never stopped in until last week.... I am really glad we finally did! We came in last Wednesday and they were doing trivia, the tall guy with spiky hair convinced us to join in YOU CAN WIN A $50 BAR TAB and it doesn't cost anything to join! Alas, we didn't win but it was a blast, especially watching two teams have a beer chugging contest for a tie breaker. LOL.
We stopped in again on Saturday and the same tall guy was behind the bar.... Erin I think, so we said hey and then sat at a table. Our wattress, Mandy, was very attentive and nice, with a little bit of sass, it was fun. I wish they did drink specials on Saturdays but Erin had a generous pour so that made up for it.
We will definitely will be back again, probably every weekend! At least to start or end our evening!
Report This ReviewFinleys is my usual last stop on the way home on the weekends - what would a fri or sat night be without just one more? And when I know I shouldnt of had that last one the bartender will always offer water and a "bun" when their kitchen is closed. Just ask for Katie, Jackie or Aaron - they'll take care of you.
